The Candied Apple Caper

We repeatedly ate at a wonderful buffet that had Italian, Chinese, Southern Cooking, Hickory Grill, Desserts and Bread spread across a huge area within the casino.

The last day, as usual, we ate too much. One caramel apple stood, untouched and cried out not to be wasted...ahhh, the taste wanted to be enjoyed but the stomach of all said no. We asked about carry out and it was against the rules.

Then the deception came in play, I am ashamed. We searched for something that would not stick to the caramel. This apple was drenched in caramel, drizzled in chocolate, dipped in peanut chips and draped with white chocolate...who could leave that for the garbage??

Toni, the ever inventive, found some paper begged from another food source that protested all the time. Toni won and brought two waxed papers, slipped them to me, as we looked for security guards. I wrapped the apple and looked up to see two guards watching, what is this???

I guess they decided it wasn't worth the hassle for one apple, because they whispered to each other as I escaped, happily, with the apple.

Protected said apple and the rest of the crew departed for home.
Note the watcher on the bridge.

Arkansas border what did we see???? I knew they had put out an all points bulletin for me and the stolen apple. Grand Theft Apple...Would I go down without a fight? Should I out run them? Should I surrender? Eat the evidence and swallow the stick?

We quickly pulled into a road side park to evade the police.

Not one of our best ideas.

We hit the road, in hopes of loosing them.

They could not find the apple thief, although they were pulling over everyone. it seemed.

Said apple made it home safely and was enjoyed by the stay at home man. I still feel guilty but did enjoy the chase.

This N That

Toni and Andrew, always joking, tried to convince me my car would not start.
A wonderful idea to stop massive soil erosion, rocks in cages

Toni did not want to hide the sign

Can you imagine being pregnant for two years???

The statues were absolutely beautiful.

Things I learned At The Zoo

Humans look funny underwater.

Even small is tall.

Eagles are still majestic in captivity.

Giraffes tonuges are almost as long as their neck.

Traveling...

video

Was as much fun as getting there. Andrew is reading the map as Toni casually follows the instructions. Getting lost is not a problem, Toni knows where it is going, he is teaching Andrew map skills without making it an obvious lesson. Toni is wonderful with children and people in general. A absolutely fun trip, Thank you, Toni!

"Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves." Speaking of the web of life.
Bev, looking around for the man she just knocked out of his boots.

Observing the captured animals as they observed the captor race.

Touching Buddha for luck.

Meet the new man on the block...resting and waiting for the women to come to him.

The Beginning

The great Horseshoe Casino
Gold Stike,

And none stood up to their names.

We had two different motels, one with a pool, one without.
Giant buffets that could be grazed with no limits, comfortable rooms and a entire staff to keep us happy and encourage us to gamble.
We broke even so did not mortgage the home. Interesting but not something I really would die to do again...but now I can say I did.

On Vacation

I hope I will be telling wonderful stories of how I put seventy-five cents in a random slot and won several million. We are staying in Tunica Mississippi because my nephew gets rooms free.

We shall journey to Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee and explore the home of the blues.

We are planning to see the Memphis Zoo.

When I return Thursday, I shall bore you with all my tales of leisure and wonderful fortune that came my way.

This Day I Can't

Most days I can manage my ups and downs of thinking, but other days, it drags me into a hole so deep, I cannot even see the rim.

I have a vacation day free to do as I please, tackle all those things that have been haunting me and yet I can not reach inside me deep enough to do anything.

I wander through my home and see this and that to do. I have endless possibilities for entertainment and yet nothing calls my name. The dishes and clothes are screaming to be washed but I ignore their voices and walk away from them.

I can paint, I can write, I can read, I can watch tv, I can play with horses or dogs, I can nap but nothing lures me out of my hiding.

The need to do something is clear but what? I must just take that first step to put one thing away or run dishwater and not let it grow cold. I must gather the laundry.

I must...I must...I can't.

I know that soon I will but until then...
