Gypsy

Gypsy's last game of stick At The Farm.

Gypsy is meeting her new brother, Joe.
She will have three little brothers and will be a house dog.

This was my goal.
Gypsy took my heart with her.

My Favorite Time

I sit and listen
to the early farm sounds.
The roosters are crowing to greet the day
but have not left their roost yet.
Gypsy lays, snoring, after her early morning walk
her future still undetermined.
The house is silent.

Soon the sounds will hit me,
the tv blaring,
the people waking,
noise levels raising with each minute that passes.
I can only wait,
I can only dream
of the next quiet morning.

Driving Home

See that tiny white speck?

The white doe and several white tail deer...

I want a new camera!
Here she is with her twins.
I tried guys, I couldn't not zoom anymore!

The Feather...

lay where it had landed.
The chicken was gone.
The hawk screamed in triumph
as he soared
not as high as he was before
now he carried dinner.

My Earliest Memory

I tried to download some images from Corel Paint Shop, but I guess I bought the wrong program. I am tired of trying to show you some YOUNG photos.

Instead you get my earliest memory.

I asked Mom once who lived across the field, no one, she said.  I said yes, we use to walk across here and go to a house.  No, yes, we did.

We went to see a man and women. The room was  L-shaped.  I would visit with the man and you would sit in the living room talking with the woman.  Mom said, that was so-n-so, they have been gone a long time and the house too.  But Mom, I remember.

I described the quilt, the man in a bed in the small part of the L and I knew he was sick. The man and I talked as I sat on the bed and he was laying down.

Mom had a strange look on her face when she said, you can't remember that, you were only six months old!

I Will Never Be A Film Producer

Here is the spring by the old garden which is now a cow lot.  Notice the rock structure.  Dad built that years ago to enable him to pump from the spring.  A calf fell in and Dad could not lift him out so he had to knock the wall down to remove the calf.  The calf and Dad survived the ordeal but the wall was never built back.

The banks are eroded and we have lovely sand and gravel islands where there should be none.  The damage is extensive.  Mother Nature at her best, reshaping the land to her idea of beauty, not ours.

I took a long walk and found deep holes that can be swimming areas and holes that were and are no longer.

Boo!  This is why I will never be a film producer.  I did not know where the camera was pointing so just took a chance.

I traveled the creek this Sunday and am only now getting it posted.  I filmed the creek and told tall tales while filming the waters.  I kept tripping, stepping in deep holes, hanging on limbs and finding it was difficult to climb rocks with one hand.

Oh, the plans I had!

I came in with high anticipation of the beauty I was going to show you, waterfalls and rocks and trees and moss.  WELL, I deleted every one of them.

I kept turning the camera off accidently, I had some clicking noise inside the camera you could hear on the film, Gypsy hogged the lime light and I got stuck on a tree. Also the camera, for some reason, had rotated them so you would have to watch them sideways.

So, instead of movies, you will have to close your eyes and imagine my soft, gentle(not out of breath) voice, telling you tales as I climbed to my favorite spot.  The sun was shining, the dogs were with me, the water was falling and crystal clear.

Can you hear me?

Too Much!!!!

I am going to make up for the wordless post earlier.

I know the full moon is waning but I think all the crazies were out today and they were in my office.  It was insane, I did not have time to pee!!!  I can't talk about it, they might fire me!  Why in the hell did I postpone retirement????  The floors are filthy because I don't have time to clean with all the computer work and everything else beside the customers.

The fridge went out, we have two so that's okay, but now I have a fridge full of spoiled food I have to throw out, then I have to move one fridge out and  the other in and I don't have a dolly.

No one wants this blooming dog!  That was another bust.  Yes, Gail, you can save all the stray dogs there are.  Today I say if they aren't adopted with in the month, shoot them all.  If they bark, shoot them.  If they eat, shoot them.  Foster dogs, just one more gol darned splendid idea from Gail.

The cows keep getting out after the flood.  We keep fixing and they keep finding the holes. Den says he is going to sell, I certainly hope so because I am sick of fences and cattle.

Then he said we have to feed your horses, well, I always do.  Shall I sell them too?? I never have time to ride them so might as well sell 'em.

After my lovely day, I come home to fitting a beef in the freezer, hubby dumped it, so I had to take it all out and stack it like firewood and fit it together with great precision like a jigsaw puzzle.  Finally got that in place and the door to shut.

Thank God for that and for the meat.  I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but dag nabbit, I am tired!  This is a wonderful beef for those who like good marbled meat.  It is always tender.  Soup Bone dressed out at 69% beating T Bone from last year at 63%.  This is percentage of meat to live weight.

We are driving on half a road, my hubby works for the county but you think our road gets fixed??  Every body's gets fixed before ours, then when hubby gets it back in shape with his own tractor, they come along and stop up the ditches again.

One thing I can not gripe about is the weather.  We have had three stunningly perfect fall days in a row, no rain.

There it is all out...pray for me!

Wordless

I Met An Artist

You know if you are at the post office long enough, you meet all kinds of people.  Wonderful people, sweet people, helpful people, talented people...I could go on forever.

Today, I met an artist who was featured in this magazine.  She was mailing copies to her friends.  She is a very talented lady and I was lucky enough to get to visit with her awhile.

This lady has more talent in her pinky than I have in my whole body!  Enjoy the site.

The Rain Has Stopped

I tried to walk, after all the rain and you see where that got me.  Flood damage is everywhere.  Hubby gave me a ride so I got outta the mud but not before I was mud covered to the knees.

Here is one creek crossing.  You can see we have our work cut out for us.

The waters have receded, the creek is wider, logs have been washed away and the work cries out to be done.  You can see how high the water was from the debris.

Thank God for the sunshine!
