A Turnip Tale

I love turnips cooked with ham and some buttermilk cornbread.  I could eat it for days.

We may have to!  This turnip traveled from Stone County, across the river  to Izard County, out Hwy 58 to Pearl Street and then ended its journey on Marcy Lane.

This weighed five and a half pounds and was not the biggest turnip in the patch.  The man had grown some over nine pounds!  They were not tough nor pethy.

Marcy did not hesitate when it came to preparing this baby.  This is a huge pan. I imagine I will be enjoying turnips, or should I say, turnip,  for a while.

Hoarfrost

Who needs an art museum?

when you can have hoarfrost?

Mother Nature makes the art.

We just have to look.

I did a post last year on November 27th, with a discussion about whether this was called hoarfrost or rabbit frost.  This year's pictures are just as delightful as last year.

White Lady Still With Us!

The rut is over and every deer has calmed down.
I hope she has twins next year too.

Ride 'Em, CowGirl!

When's my turn?

Bitless bridle and bare back

Seeing if Charme has forgotten anything.

Like me, Charme has forgotten to STEP AWAY FROM THE FOOD.

Soon I shall have four horses trained then Sam shall train me.

Sam, My Horse Whisperer In Action

The last one to train is Broken Arrow, Haflinger/Arabian, son of Knot and Charme. (Cut Knot a week too late!)  This big baby is still nursing mom because like all these blessed animals here, they are all babied and overfed.

Broken Arrow is a yard dog.  Nothing has been done with him except being petted, brushed, and spoiled in general.

She amazes me!

Arrow ain't half bad either, even in his winter coat.

Working her magic on Broken Arrow.

Sam makes it look so easy.

Nicely done for a first short lesson.
Yep, gonna be like Sam when I grow up!
