a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

The Emancipation of Timothy Turtle...

 Hesitant,( my gift of turtle),
  Timothy headed out
digging into sand for safety
Will he head up or down?
No one will know.
While I played with rocks
Timothy made a quick get-a-way.

My First Feline Friday

Come back, Mom!
I'm trying to sleep!  Stop your caterwauling.
I bet she can hear me!

Krylon Christmas...

Earlier this week I spoke of Adding Color and the problems I had with Krylon.  I complained.
I received an email immediately and a second email telling me they were sending paint.  They had determined the cans were faulty...through no one's fault...it just happens.

So I take it back, Krylon.  I did some research.  It was in fact a good will gesture to help cut back on graffiti art.  Krylon changed their valve.  Another case where good intentions come back and bite you.

So if you get a bad can, keep the bar code and talk to Krylon.  They stand behind their product.

Tiny Turtle For dVerse~Poets Pub

Tiny turtle in my hand
How did you arrive here
By accident
Or man?
Tiny now too small to bite
You will grow
 Into a frightful sight.
The question remains
How came you here?
I know the answer...
From my sweet dear
Hubby's main goal
Is to make me scream
It's just a game
He's not mean
He laughs now but
I'm quite the sneak
I'll release this baby
To the creek.

One thing we know
And tell
Around here
Paybacks are hell.

A whimsical contribution to dVerse~Poets Pub for Open Link.

New Ground Pasture

This land was cleared and planted at least fifty years ago.  It was referred to as the new ground and I guess it always will be.  The cattle don't care what it's called.  This was Dad's standard summer pasture and the spring valley was winter grazing along with hay and feed.

Today we counted cattle.
The grass is green.
This time last year it was drought brown.
Collateral is not sure he likes the attention.
A bad picture of my favorite...Yellow Cow
If I didn't know better I would think there's a buffalo
 in this guy's wood pile.
Grass is good. This cow is not skinny.  It is the breed.
Bored with us and disappointed that we brought no treats
they move on.

Adding Color

The tile came off this porch table from a few years of weather.
Time for a change.
Measuring and thinking...
An old heat register cover is part of the plan.
I cut a hole for the register to rest along the edge.
Rotten top problem solved
and outdoor table refreshed.
Not injured just crappy paint,
Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Gloss in Cherry Red
was a drippy messy spray can of trouble.
This has been my fourth can of Krylon
(I contacted Krylon and they are sending replacement paint)
spray paint not worth carrying home.
BUT despite the difficulties
the result was okay.
I played some more
and one whole can was gone.
I am never bored.

Seed Ticks, Roller Coaster Ride and Places No Blog Has Gone Before

We are having visitors in September. I made the mistake of asking if there were places we could drive the Polaris so we would not have to walk so far.  Well, the butt showed me!!!!  My wonderfully fun Hubby took me for a ride.
Flying down a hill side with a big gravel wash
Flying up banks
Up and down the hills and terraces
driving through dry ponds
laughing maniacally
while saying my niece screamed louder than I did.
We went to an old home place
where the only mimosa tree grows on the farm.
While I took pictures in the "clearing"
I got covered in seed ticks.
So down the high line we flew
through the meadows to home.
I think if they had a measure
I would not have been tall enough for this ride.

Frog Fib

Imaginary Garden With Real Toads has a mini weekend challenge.  This challenge required a certain form and so I try because I like challenges.
Do
You
Think I
Can count spots
On this Leopard frog
As he hides in running water?

The White Deer With Real Toads

Ralph Albert Blakelock (1847-1919)  "Solitude" (detail)  undated
for a creative challenge.
In the clearing
He danced
For crops
And for rain

Magic was called
She came
In white fur she danced
In the silent rain

Blessing had answered
Yet no one knew
Where she walked
Peyote grew.

Hiding...

or trying.

Crystal And Mushrooms...

Crystals and fungi
Lay on a log
First they were silent
Then came dialog

Shrooms spoke first
Offering a prophetic scene
Crystal counter-offered
With a clarifying dream

Neither vision was truthful
Both of them lied
Each could deliver a trip
But it could be the last ride

For Poetry Jam:  Poetic Visions

Got My Eye...

on you.

Walking...

Lil stands on the tree trunk covered with poison oak.
I use to bathe here as a young child in summer.
This live creek has water year round.
This is a "dry" creek.
It will go dry if we don't receive enough rain.
See the tiny resident?
It's just a frog, Pat.
Treasures from the rain.
