a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Chicken Courtship

The rooster spies his love bird
Stalking her
He asked her to dance
Showing off his dance steps, she applauds.
They dance
The Barn Gang shows up ready to rumble.
The first rooster, outnumbered and outdanced,  leaves dejected.
I loved her, he sighed.
Bonnie watched as he sadly walked away.
Alone again
but there's always tomorrow.

I am watching this dance with the sparrows, robins, and red-winged blackbirds.
It is Spring, and so they dance.

Oh, what a sad story. I thought you could only have one rooster with hens?

The first cock to the dance did not fair hen win. Next breeding season, maybe?

I'm not sure Bonnie is old enough to witness this kind of display! ;-) Such a cute set of photos of the chickens.
