When we had a leak in the pvc U joint.... y...Gail,

When we had a leak in the pvc U joint.... years ago we called a plumber. He told me to fix this problem it would cost us $800.00. At the time, I didn't have the money to cover the expense. He said, go to home depot and get this tape.....it's a plumbers tape that comes in a sealed pouch. It's wet when you open it, looks something like the material used for a cast if you had broke a bone. Wrap this tape tightly, with no folds around the pipe, and allow it to dry. Once dry the tape will harden, and won't allow anything to leak through. The plumber stated it's what we use, and it will last up to 8 to 10 years with no issues.
I sealed the pipe with 3 sets of this tape, and then closed the hole in the ceiling. The pipe is still fine, no leaks and it's been close to 18 years.

Don't you hate it when you have to work on pipes and the area is inconvenient to get too? We had to cut a 3 foot whole in the ceiling to get up a ladder and through the ceiling. One of my nephews lives in the City and calls fix it people all the time - I wouldn't want to see his bill, but I would be glad to teach what I know... mostly "Out O The Box Solutions" ha,ha. Never heard of Gorilla Glue, but sounds like a nice bit of stuff to have around. They don't sell that around here. You did fine with the presentation and photos :)LilliStJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06771499579700164919noreply@blogger.com
