Good Farm Fences With Kubota King

Sometimes you see them
sometimes you don't.
 Even without livestock
Hubby maintains the fields
or they would swiftly be taken over by unwanted brush.
Twilight finds him in his Zen moment...
Man and his machine under the evening sky.
Share your fences.

The Right Tools

do make a difference.
It also nice when someone lends a hand
and a tractor.
These are the only tools I have a license to use.
Thanks to Hubby the work went much faster.

Just Before Christmas

while making our rounds, we noticed the spring holding pond level had dropped.  A varmint had made his own path way.  The water was running under our over flow pipe instead of through it.
This job called for the Kubota King.  He did some digging in the levee and removed the culvert.
He dammed the exit to allow the water to fill to its maximum capacity.  We (I supervised) worked on moving rocks while the pond filled.
These large rocks will turn most rain water away from the spring holding pond.
Time to break the dam
The water leaves swiftly flushing the holding pond.
The water follows the steam bed to the big spring pond.
The rocks under the ones to the right are ones my grandfather laid around an old oak barrel over the spring outlet.  Back then the water was carried by hand to the house.  The ones you see were added by Dad when the house was plumbed for water.  Now a submersible pump carries more than enough water to two houses with plenty left for the creek.  Although there are several bubbling springs within this area the main spring is inside the rock barrel.
After the pond flushed itself  Hubby did every thing in reverse.  Culvert installed at correct level to maintain the level we perfer.  Dirt placed and packed on culvert while keeping it level to drain.  Less than two hours the pond filled to the lip of the pipe and flows merrily on its way.

Once again crystal clear water at the correct level for the pump.  Gotta love tractors.  This used to be done by hand!  A spring that pumps hundreds of gallons a minute is simply a natural above ground well with sweet water from deep within Mother Earth.

Kubota To The Rescue!

I've learned through trial and error, work goes far better if you have the proper tools.  Most of the time we don't have the perfect tool for the job and we improvise.
Kubota is perfect for cleaning gutters.
and for lifting heavy loads while repairing roofs.
Andrew is the Kubota prince I guess.
Cleaning gutters can bring surprises to those doing ground work.
Zander, my grass clipper, got a refreshing surprise.
The Kubota King can fell dead trees with a smile and the bucket
and level ground with two wheels in the air.
What would we do without Kubota?
or the King?
Good all around tools...the guys and the tractor.

Well...

Hubby helped me place this wonderful huge rock with his tractor.  No way a normal human could lift this.  I worked.  I arranged.  I dug.
Hubby arrives a few days later and says, I've found a better rock!!!  It has a hollow and a stream build into it.  So we spent a  little time dragging the other "perfect" rock out and placing the second.
It was so heavy the tractor had trouble lifting it with a chain.  Hubby has this wonderful idea.  As this rock is suspended from the tractor with a chain I am to take a rope and twirl this "perfect" rock in position.  It didn't happen.  I struggled.  Hubby did most of the work with his Kubota.
Removing the liner from the tractor tire was quite the job.  It had to be emptied.  I removed the tacks that held the liner in place.
Hubby made short work of removing it from the ground
and delivered it to the new location.
The old tractor tire will live on in a new location.
Water will circulate from the rock/water fall into tire.
I have much more to do but I am tired for today.
Even in our yard I found treasure!

Kubota Should Pay Me...

for advertising!
This tractor is used for everything hubby can think about.
Last evening, things were hauled to the bone yard.
Removing ugly pieces from sight of the house
was a great gift.
You know all those things that are broken
and left by the shop to fix but seldom seem to get fixed?
That is what the bone yard is for...to hide them.
Dalton, Andrew and Jake helped haul a truck,
a mickey mouse trailer,
a broken bush hog,
and who knows what else.
They are now out of sight
and can be found when repairs are really gonna happen.
Fun was had.
Note Bev in the back ground mowing.
Work was done.
Andrew, Jake, Dalton and the dogs had the best part of the evening.

With All The Work Waiting...

I took a walk, after all, isn't that why you take a day off, to enjoy some of it?  After the doctor, the grocery shopping, the weedeating and the hand laundry but before the dishes, I treated myself.
We played in the creek.
We explored
and we played stick.
We watched Kubota King operate.
I kinda like days off!

Still Workin'

After Den, Andrew and I bought out Walmart, we returned to unload and work Saturday.

And you thought Bev and I were through organizing! We worked again today, mostly cleaning but a few more pictures were placed and a few knick knacks fine tuned. All laundry, dishes, floors, and three commodes are clean...it's an amazing feeling! I still have a few unorganized piles and places, but fewer than I did have.

I am playing with stir fry and no recipes. Had a lot of fun, threw in leeks, beef, three kinds of peppers, cabbage and water chestnuts, dashed some soy sauce, garlic, sugar, red pepper and wine. Toni and Bev helped with prep. Had brown rice as a side...or an under, which ever you prefer, with Mandarin oranges if you wanted them. Toni, Bev, Den, Andrew and I had a pleasant lunch, a real sit down meal, then we all returned to our various jobs.

Kubota King was out cutting trees out of the road up the hill with the help of grandson, Andrew. They are preparing fallen cedar to split for posts.
Marcy was planting some things but the garden was too wet to plow. She did not join us for lunch since she had already eaten. I think she was making Easter baskets for all the little ones.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and were able to be with the ones you love or wherever you wanted to be.
