Policing The Yard...

I got out awhile Sunday. Marcy is doing better so I walked around a little. The water garden is perking up after my severe cleaning.
The dogs have greatly enjoyed the private pool
in the front yard.
Every rock tells a story,
not only geologically
but also emotionally.
Crystals from Mount Ida
I would like to thank everyone for all your well wishes and prayers during Marcy's surgery and ongoing recovery.

As I turned to go back indoors the sun was setting and I could see the moon.

Shelling Peas With Aunt Marcy...

can be lots of fun.
It takes lots of concentration,
can be a group activity,
or be done alone,
with lots of breaks.

Picking Wild Huckleberries...

Marcy samples them.
They taste a lot like blue berries.
When they are dark, they are ripe.

Sunday...

I had a surprise when I awakened.  A bouquet of wild flowers lay on my table by my favorite chair.  Hubby had been out for his healthy walk and thought about me.  Something about almost dieing makes you think of what's important, I guess.  I placed them in one of my favorites cups in the kitchen window.  We had daisies in our wedding bouquet, don't know if he remembered but it was nice to get a daisy and honeysuckles as a surprise.
None of my posts would be complete without a peek at Ki.  I think she is as big as she's gonna get now at seven months old.  She is hoping against hope, I will drop something from my plate.
I walked the creek today to refill my contentment level and be close to The Maker.  The waters  have not completely cleared.  We have deep holes where we had none...good for summer play and sand bars appeared in other places.  The power of water is amazing, it can reshape your world.
Hubby had worked on the road...Doc said he could drive Friday so he has been wearing out the tractor and the mule.  I don't think Doc meant, bounce around on rough equipment four days after  heart surgery.  Marcy and I went along on this ride to collect flat rocks for use in the yard.
Marcy, who is always outside by daylight, had picked a few wild strawberries before we picked rocks.  All in all, a pretty good morning...as the rain clouds move in again!

Watching Marcy Do Her Thing

Marcy is my oldest sister and the one who provides most of the awesome photos you see on both my blogs.  Today we walked and I took pictures of Marcy so you can put a face to the wonderful photographer.
We've had several days of storms and rain.
The creeks are rolling.
In between the storms,
Marcy and I explored.
The horses found us.
Marcy has a way with horses.
She also has a way with photography.
Now you can see how we get all those wonderful closeups.
The horses are inspecting the snake kill by the farm dogs.
The sky had cleared temporaily  and the walk was good...
Thanks, Marcy, for all the wonderful pictures you share.

Christmas Dinner...

Marcy, the eldest; Zander, the youngest

Family gathered at the matriarch's home,  Marcella or Marcy, my oldest sister. The success of the day was hers.

Marcy cooked a fabulous meal, mostly from food she and Beverly had grown and preserved this summer.  Our hearts were light and the laughter echoed throughout Marcy's home.

It was a wonderfully, blessed Christmas filled with family, love and laughter...and good food.

Thank you, Marcy, for all you do each and every day of the year.

Undressed With Horses...

Stepping out in my gown,
I had no idea someone was watching,
I had not combed my hair,
the horses didn't care.
I'll have to watch for paparazzi next time.

She Has A Good Eye...

My oldest sister, Marcy, is the photographer.  Most of the photos you see are by her.  One thing you rarely get to see is a picture of Marcy.

On my morning walk, we met and I got a chance to take some pictures of this wonderful sister of mine.
Marcy is an animal, farm, flower lover.  She is the who preserves all the food that is grown here and, man, can she cook!  Marcy is our matriarch.
Marcy is a retired school teacher and has a home At The Farm next door to us.  She also, in her spare time, cares for my youngest grandson while my youngest daughter is attending nursing school.
She is the spoiler of children, adults and animals alike.  We all know who feeds us!
Marcy could not get away from the horses.
They all wanted loving...
and apple, pear and peach peelings,
and corn on the cob,
and corn fodder.
I distracted the horses
so Marcy could continue
her morning walk.

How To Turn A Worm Into Lunch For Five

This is the New Pond and was built over forty years ago.  It shall remain the New Pond until we build another, I guess.

Marcy loves to fish.  My friend has been collecting Catalpa worms for her and Marcy decided to give them a try.

...and the biggest one got away.  I think they always do considering the tall fish tales I have heard through the years.
The ones Marcy did catch are not going anywhere because TP is on guard.  She would tell Marcy if one got too close to the edge and was in danger of rejoining its room mates.
TP also kept a look out for incoming.  She may be directing Marcy on the proper way to handle the fishing pole or telling her where to cast her line.
This is one that got away.  Marcy reeled it close to the bank and they both had to rest after the battle, the fish and Marcy.  Even after it slipped the hook, it lay and rested before it swam away.
Marcy was happy, we were happy.  Marcy cleaned the fish, cooked the fish and delivered a full platter of fresh cooked warm fish to us as we returned home from work.  Thanks, Marcy and TP.

Members Of The Farm Team

Marcy, the matriarch, the canner, the preserver, the photographer, my oldest sister, retired school teacher, care giver for youngest grandson while mom attends college.

The boys, father and son, waiting for chestnuts or pears or persimmons, whatever the treat is today.
Mother of Arrow, my love, my ride.

The Fire King and Queen Hit Again

How do they get this all done while I am hiding at work?? Bev worked all day outside and as soon as Den got in he jumped on the Kubota and went to work too. Notice the disc on the back of the tractor. One garden spot is done and ready for potatoes. The other main garden is still a little too wet.
Beverly was having a small controlled burn

Just a few branches from the yard, not even the tip of the iceberg

Kubota King pushing the logs on

Today is Marcy's birthday. Andrew is hiding. Marcy is the one who takes the great pictures, packs my lunch, cares for my youngest grandson, grows the garden, cans the food...Marcy is the matriarch of the farm.

Friday...

My husband gave another meaning to Fry day! When I arrived home from work, I had FRIED pork steaks, baked potatoes and gravy too! Too delicious and so not good for you.

Beginning to see dots of green in the landscape. Could it be spring peaking out? Bring it on!

Marcy and Bev have been planting onions in every bare spot they can find. Marcy said we didn't have enough last year.

I shall do my homework 'cuz Bev will be here tomorrow ready to make miracles happen.

Have a great weekend.

A Gardner's Poem...

Marcy grew the okra
And so could you
But the spiderweb was something
She could never do.
Created at night
Bejeweled with dew
The Spider had the art
no gardener knew!
