a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

My Sunday Walk...

It has been a while since I walked and explored. The morning was cool and perfect for just recentering and remembering what's important. Strolling to reconnect with nature, leaving all the stress behind and having nothing but enjoyment on my mind
I headed down the creek,
and saw this debris from the last flood, long ago.
The beauty in the small things was total pleasure.
The water is low from the drought.
The remains from the tornado, beginning to decay,
were an obstacle course for the dogs.
I continued to my favorite place,
Rock Hollow.
Saw poison oak and ferns, growly abundantly.
After a nice climb with only one stumble,
a few briar scratches and seed ticks,
I am centered, relaxed and sweating.
We climb Turtle Ridge
and head back down the mountain.
Arriving at the crossing, we enjoy the water as the dogs cooled and relaxed.  It was just me and the dogs but I didn't feel alone in my adventure.  I felt Dad was there every step of the way.

Oh, The Difference A Day Makes...

The wind began Sunday night and blew strongly straight from the south, strong winds, with thunder, lightening and rain.  Nothing serious but it sounded bad.
The spring pond, minus the fallen trees is full again.  The water will clear after the rain.  We muddied things up a little with the tree dragging.
Full to the levee, once again, we can restock the fish.
The creek was rain-swollen and rolling with the rain we had.  The dogs and I explored to our heart's content.
Where the Rock Hollow runs into the live creek, the water is clear.
You know I can't stay out of the water!
I am the original wild child!
A visit to my favorite place, the Rock Hollow
and back to the valley before another storm arrived.

Renewing My Spirit

I attempted to renew my spirit today by walking to my favorite place At The Farm. I know I am in desperate need of some sort of change in attitude and usually I can reach that happy place by communing with nature, seeing the beauty in every thing and the amazing works of my world.
I searched for a different perspective but it seems to remain the same, like this view into a rock cavity in the Hollow.

I got covered in seed ticks and sat a while to remove them. I wondered what their use was when they were created because I could see no beauty in them today. I left my shoes and camera case and traveled.

My favorite place is before me and I climb no more. The ferns stretch their beautiful green fronds to the sky and the lichen clings to the rock for its sustenance. Sometimes I can associate with the lichen and that is pretty sad.

This small flower was very, very small but did not miss my camera's eye.
I thought, maybe, this would have resolved my self-pity but it only seemed to enrich it because I saw the work to be done there and not the beauty.
Got any solutions?
