Goodbye To The Princess...

Marcy was sad to say goodbye to her little Princess but she said it was time for her to be a goat, a real goat.  One that has goat friends and goat family.  I am delighted she made this decision.
I don't think she would have parted with her bottle fed house baby if it had been anyone besides Sam that took her.  This goat was so spoiled as a bottle baby, she would bleat when it was time for soap operas.  Marcy kept her in a dog crate in her house during the evenings.  Then Princess grew and grew and grew, so outside she went.
Sam is a horse trainer but this goat pulled her over!  Not hurt, but laughing.  Princess was trying to see what she could get away with.
Sam and Princess worked it all out.  Princess hopped right into the goat cage.  I am thinking she will become a milk goat.  Sam has a mixed herd and does well with her goats.

Princess was one of triplets and Mama just said two is enough so that's how it started.  Marcy was sad but I think somewhat relieved.  No going out to feed Princess this winter!

As Sam prepared to leave with two kittens and a goat, Marcy said, take a picture of her babies for me.

I did wait until I got inside before I did my happy dance!

My Friend, Sam

Dropped by to see out how Arrow was doing and check his memory.  It did not take him long to remember.
Every one wanted in on the action!
No alone time for Sam and Arrow.
Arrow did very well
and Sam did fantastic.
Thanks, Sam.

He's Back!

Arrow will be three in May.
Chadir's Broken Arrow has rejoined the farm team.  Sam is very pleased with his progress.  In fact, if he is ever for sale, Sam wants first chance at this boy.
Every one had to get reaquainted.
It was a successful day!

Saturday Was A Cold And Foggy Morning

and it progressed into a cold, windy day.
The weather did not bother my friend, Sam.  She was out town giving Arrow some more lessons in the world of zooming vehicles.  This time she had ponied Arrow with her horse, Red.  He did very well with that.

Sam was headed out to another town via back roads with two horses and her dog.  No bit in use and Arrow is doing so well.

Soon I will have four horses trained and will need many excuses not to ride.

Guess Who Came To Visit...

and I cut her head off!
Sam showed me some of Arrow's moves.
First time in town, he did pretty good,
considering there were big gravel trucks.

Last Horse Standing

The title has nothing to do with this post, except the horse part, well, and it was standing.  I just like the way the line sounded.

Broken Arrow shows the reason for his name in this shot.

Time to go to Trainer Sam's where she can work her magic.  We started almost too late in the afternoon, because unlike our Magic Man, Arrow was not interested in loading.  He was interested in nothing but Mama.

Sam tried food, loving, leading but Arrow was not going in that trailer.  She ground worked him, led in in the field, still no prize.

If you remember, Arrow is the son of Knot and Charme, an Arabian and a Haflinger.  He is beautiful but just a tad stubborn.

Sam thought maybe if Mom loads, son will load.  Well Mom loaded and that is as far as that went.  Then tying them together to load was an idea, still no luck.

The sun was setting so we had to rely on the old standby, chute loading.  It worked.  As the sun dipped below the horizon, the trailer drove out of sight.

Soon I will have four horses trained to be ridden and I am not trained to ride.  I have ordered "Riding Horses For Dummies", hope that will help.
