It's Supposed To Be A Holiday...

Jake's free horse, Johnny, is thrivingl.  Johnny's hooves have been trimmed and he did very well.  Have found out the lineage is Thoroughbred and Paint.  Although a stallion, Johnny demonstrates no bad characterisics.
They are blending into a wonderful team.

My walls are empty, my paintings are displayed in the shop.  Bev oohs and ahhs, and calls it art.  I call it canvas and paint.  The afternoon was spent putting pieces of shelving units together and creating display areas out of the pieces that fit nothing.  Progress is being made...thanks to Bev.  We hope to open for a sale the week of City Wide Yard Sale.  As we thin generations of accumulated STUFF, we will work toward making the shop what Toni has planned...we really don't know what that will be yet.

Although there is no school today, Andrew has foot ball practice so I am up early to wake the men in time to go.  They had their first game this past week...and won.  I was unable to go...working and it was a two hour drive.  According to Andrew, and he assures me the coaches said it first, if he had not intercepted, we would have lost the game.

The weather has taken a turn here.  The leaves are falling, either from drought or because it's time.  I had windows open, the first time in a very long time and I was looking for an afghan!!!  It is nice to be cool instead of too hot.

The horses and cows are grazing contently.  Although we have been dry, we have had enough moisture to maintain the pastures.  Many farmers have had no second cutting of hay this year...and we are lucky for the first.  Some states have no grass at all with livestock starving.

I have no idea what's on my plate for today.  Whatever it is, I hope I do it well and with an open heart.

My Last Day Home...

I worked some around the house, read and rested before my dental appointment.  I also walked. I donned my light jacket and muck boots, camera in hand.  The air was  a little nippy but clear and fresh.
I saw beauty in the small things,
and in the far things.
We could not walk for long.
The rain returned.
The pack and I had a rousing game of football.
I believe Maggie was the high scorer.
Her defense was awesome.
The rain fell
and we returned to the warmth we call home.

Grandson/Football Report

Andrew, exhausted after a late night football game, excitedly waits for the bus.  The final score last night...28 to 0, our favor.  Papa said Andrew did a great job, wish I had been there.
Jake gets to spend the night.  Papa has promised him if he listens, does his homework, and get up for school without complaining, he gets to stay At The Farm.  Jake is and has been a good boy, except for one incident.  He got a paddling at school for throwing Jello up a boy's nose...it was strawberry flavored and Jake denies it.  Jake is still staying because I think it takes a very talented young man to throw strawberry Jello UP someone's nose...Jake doesn't care for Jello.
Zander's highlight of the week was getting to eat rice through the rails of a chair.  After each bite, he would chew and then jump out to scare Marcy.  This is a boo shot.

I think my daughers threw some good pups!

Signs of Fall

Families at football games, Zander with his dad and mom, Maria; next my oldest, Melissa with Jake.
Turning foliage
Not exactly a sign of fall but the sun always sets.
Berries to feed the birds in winter
And Football! Andrew has the ball tucked and running, #81.
Score Us-20, Them-14!!!!!
