a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Rocking In My Flip Flops

Alway something interesting
to find on a walk
A rock outcropping covered in lichen
shapes and types
you may not have seen.
Grateful the flip flops are still able to rock
Keep your eyes on the trees cause you never know what's watching.
See the face?

Me and My Feet in October

My feet and I made friends with a tarantula.
 Found Beggar Lice seeds
Did a little fishing
Got down and dirty in the mud
and washed my feet in cool spring water.
My days with my flip flops are growing shorter..

What Did Your Flip Flops Do Yesterday?

Mine rested on the creek bank as I crossed to plant seeds in the wild life garden.  I planted Kentucky Wonder beans, two kinds of pop corn, cantaloupe and a variety of other seeds.  We shall see what happens.
Rescued a catalpa tree from honey suckle and briers.
After...I think the tree may fare better now.
I enjoyed tiny wild flowers
and watched plums bloom against a beautiful sky.
My bare feet played as my eyes feasted on the new growth of spring.
My flip flops were happy.

Flip Flop Adventure In The Hundred Acre Plus Woods

It was a good day for an adventure.
A painted reptile on the ground
sent the terrapin (box turtle) on it's way
and this is what we found

Could it be Big Foot's track?
Was I on its trail?
I tried to follow closely
but lost him when I fell
We happened upon a dead fall tree
where something had scratched and dined
We thought it's time to leave the woods
And see what else we could find
Then we met the water snake
so glad we were on land
Gail left in a hurry
and we were kicking sand

In The Beginning

 I gathered
 separated
 cleaned
and dismantled with a plan.
Hubby found the perfect board in the barn behind our lumber stack.  It was a piece of Dad's old cattle salt trough.  I used a wire brush to remove the saw dust from years of exposure to salt while Hubby used his grinder to remove the brads on the old television legs.
The wood grain was beautiful.
A wire brush was used to clean all.  No paint but I can add that later if I want.  What is it?  I did all that just to have a place to throw my shoes when I come in muddy and dirty from outside.
I attached the old television legs for boot holders
The dirt stops here.
I just need to clean the footwear.

A Flip Flop Adventure

I begged her, "Take the boots!"
She didn't listen as usual.
I was lost in the water cress.
Thank goodness she rescued me before I floated to the sea!
I screamed, "Go back!" in my squeaky flip flop voice.
I was buried in quick sand!
The sand was up to her hairy knee.
I had to wait for her to dig me out.
She balanced one legged while holding her camera high.
FINALLY, I was saved from that catastrophe
to be dropped on the edge
when she thought she could jump the sand pit!
Lost again!
I'm not sure I'll survive the summer.
Will someone please tell her to wear boots next time?!
I am flattened with fright!

Footwear...

is as varied as my hats
My, oh, S**t, the valley's flooding boots
My Ariats going to build a tree stand with Hubby
Also known as my
"what the hell am I doing on the roof?" boots
My new boots testing the creek
My bare feet
after I gave up on these.
Socks and flip flops...I think it was winter
My long-lived boots with repairs
My retired boots
Extra new boots just in case
Fixing culvert boots
Snow boots.
My footwear varies job to job, not always appropriate for the job but they work as we continue to work At The Farm.
