Tadpoles and Frogs

Marcy has tadpoles in her rain barrels and tubs.
She places sticks in the water so when they transform into frogs they can climb out safely. There are many kinds that raise here: Bull frogs, Leopard frogs,  Tree frogs and maybe more we don't know.
I was fortunate to see one emerging with a small tail still visible.
The tiny tree frog made my fingers look very large.
I believe it may be one of these.
They love this tall ornamental grass.
Warming or bug waiting?
Your guess is good as mine.
Sometimes there are more than one
of different sizes.
When dark comes they will raise their voices
so large and loud they sound much bigger than they are.

Another Project...

Before I began
You can read the story about the beginning of this water garden here.  It has quite a history.  After trimming all the unwanted and beginning another pile, I had to empty the garden to clean it.  It has been awile since I have had the time to attend to this properly.
I found some old friends
and a new one.
The turtle was not happy.
Empty of all things, clean
and refill.  All rocks replaced.  Pickerel and Parrot Grass planted.  It will be crystal clear tomorrow.
Off to find more rocks.
I love jobs like this!

Thursday's Things In A Row

Fluffy clouds march across the sky,
the temperature drops and we're all surprised.
Antique search engine, a thing long past,
Won't freeze, won't crash,  find something fast.
Rows of buckets with goodies galore,
to fill rows of jars sitting in the floor!
Screen door holes
 with froggie toes
two of my favorite things in a row.

Vist Pat and you will see
there are many  people
with rows like me.

Watch out, Pat, hit the deck!
I'm addicted and payback's heck!

Insect Eaters...

We are grateful for the creation of insect eaters.
I can't imagine what it would like with out them helping
At The Farm.

Flowers, Frogs and Figs

Dad always told me if I couldn't say something nice, to keep my mouth shut.  I will not shut up completely but will say Tuesday was a day.  One of those days when there are more reports than I had brains to supply them.  A day when the action was greater than inside a new Whirlpool washer.  One of those days that made me question why the hell I haven't retired.

Now, I am shutting up like Dad advised me too!

This N That

Marcy's plants are thriving despite the heat.  The bugs are well fed here as you can tell from the leaves.  Our variety of insects has been amazing this year.  I have seen many I did not know and many that are old friends.  All are doing well.  I have never been bitten by such a variety of insects.  I hope they are serving a purpose because that Sevin Dust is looking awfully tempting  to me.
The wild honey bees are making a come back and that is wonderful.  Dad used to raise bees and we always had the sweetest honey.  If you enlarge this, you can see the bees are heavy with pollen.
A small water fall in Marcy's yard is lovely to behold.  Makes me a little cooler just to see it but I swear, my sweat was sweating last evening!
Even the frogs are moving indoors to beat the heat.  Marcy found this tiny tree frog when she was watering her house plants.  Still don't know how he got in but he's no dummy, Marcy has the AC on.

I am working on sick again.  Allergies turned to coughs and bronchitis with no way to get off and see a doctor.  Just dedicated, I guess. I have always thought there was a thin line between dedication and stupidity.

The Winter Woolies

Looking down Marcy's steps.

The animals are still woolly but the frogs are singing tonight. I hope it means spring is near.

I look at all the woolly coats still around. I am glad they had them to stay warm. I look forward to their shiny new spring coats.

Ice damage is everywhere. Maybe in a hundred years, we will get it cleaned.

This is the nice spring pond filled with pines we could have logged...not now.
Last year you could not see the sky from here.
