It will return.
a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Valentine's Day Tragedy...
The day was cold but ice and snow were trying to melt. We had hopes of a snow leaving day but it didn't work out.
All my life I've been warned of the danger of icicles. Never believed them! Now I know. The death of the recyclable bag of cans was very sad. Impaled with a great force never to be whole again.
Then the depression and tragedy of the season made itself very clear to me. I should follow the birds and go further South. This poor bird house is uninhabitable. The tragedies abound.

The frozen bird house cried out to me
reflecting the essence of this season.
The Red Mule still stands tall.
The snow remains.
Happy Valentine's Day!
May yours be filled with sunshine and smiles.

Random 5 Friday
Random Five Friday at A Rural Journal with Nancy was just the inspiration I needed today. I may have to call my Ramble Five!
1. Winter still hangs on in all it's glory. This is supposed to be part of the south but someone didn't get that message. We had just five inches of snow this time but add sleet, rain, freezing temps and you are walking on a ice rink.
2. I'll not tell how I can no longer break through the ice with my boots. I will not tell that when I come to an incline I sit and slide so I won't fall. I won't tell how cold my backside is after that slide.
3. Schools have been closed this time for a week and more weather is coming in soon.
4. Farmers are loosing calves to the extreme colds. We lost our last born. Some farmers have lost five or more.
5. Watching the dogs slide on ice is a little funny. I laugh but the dogs don't.

Too Old For Love Poems @ Poets United
Poets United has a Mid-Week Motif~Love. To participate or just enjoy the creations of others stop by.
I love new boots
That don't slide on ice
I love leg warmers
And flannels.
I love ice on cedars
And diamonds on fences
I love feeding cattle
Who don't care
What I wear
I love new damp babies
Big brown baby eyes
And tiny hooves ending
The warm fur
And the promise of sun.

Sunday Was A Spring Day...
Got my boots wet
and muddy
Pruned the fig, removed dead wood, wisteria and rose limbs
Now it's ready for spring with waste to burn.
Trimmed a lot more bushes here and there and decided to quit when I got my last owie. I keep Walmart in business just with band aides and antibiotics.
We accomplished a lot more Sunday but I will save some excitement for another post.
The temperatures are dropping but we had one day to play. We were grateful for that day.
Stay warm.

Another View Through My Windows
The ice still clings to branches
like a shy child holding onto a mother's dress tail.
Icicles grow.
Dog food bowls fly like hockey pucks
when I slide the food outside.
The stock is fed.
The fires are warm.
The cupboard is stocked.
We find the magic in the ordinary things.
We are blessed.

Friday...
The ice was not a big surprise but a few trees went down, a few limbs lost but the power held. That is always good. School started two hours later and buses did not travel the gravel roads.
Hubby and I ran errands. He drove or should I say flew? These were the best shots I could get traveling at almost the speed of light.
The ice made the plain brown trees look like they belonged in a magical kingdom where unicorns and fairies were the norm.
It was a flying trip, no leisure stops to see what we could see. We did stop for lunch. Visited the discount bakery and found some fattening bargains. We found cheaper diesel for the tractor. We found cheaper feed for the cattle. We found two new holsters for our conceals. We declared it a successful day.
Flew home again.
The ice was beginning to fall from the trees. The rest will leave today.
Happy weekend to every one.

On The Rocks...
I always prefer my drinks on the rocks
but not the farm.
Ice...
not much but too much for us.
This is the South!
The valley sparkles in the morning sun
and the woods crackle with falling ice.
Ice
and Spring is delayed a few more days.

Winter Storm
The males have gone sledding. I chose to stay in. I'm not a winter person anymore. I shall miss many photo opportunities. I'll miss many crashes and tumbles but the fun will be in the telling later.

My Thursday On Friday...
Icy glass
and icy rocks
The snow remained 'til the end of the day.
We had to work on the spring pump
and replace the pressure tank and the relay switch...
Only $390, but we have water in the houses again.
Raised the value of Kroger stock
by restocking the cabinets.
Worked in the shop til dark.
I'm kinda worried about this guy...
I think he's watching me.
And that was my relaxing day off!!!

Behind The Camera...
most of the time is my sister, Marcy. The camera is part of her and she shares such marvelous pictures with me...with us.
The snow is almost gone but Marcy's pictures deserve a spotlight. May I present, Marcy's Art.
