a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

The Cross

It's a circle
it's a square
i hide
i care not
what you see is not me but only what you wish to be
square
a circle

the girl is gone
mind is mine
try to take
body is mine
you cannot
hear her cries
a circle

Leave now
i have no name
she hides
no shame
she hides
in a square
a circle

toss your book
your cross
your sainted look
no reaching
what is not here
your water brings no fear
a circle

Look Away

The dreams batter me
unclear
just on the edge of memory
they remain unknown
yet their strength
their frequency push me
push me closer
to the edge of insanity
"Look away, Look away..."

I wake singing
with a fervor
i cannot touch
the dream
that causes
my sleeping self
to sing
"Look away, look away..."

Smelling smoke I wake
does my soul
visit another time
have I created
too long
blurring the line
between reality and sanity
"Look away, look away..."

I've read
you can
control your dreams
so each night i try
for clarity
to find an answer
i have to know
"Look away, look away..."

The battle field lays
smoke covered wet with blood
flag staff firmly in hand
our ragged regiment charges
a musket ball
rips through me
must display the colors
"Look away, look away..."

The dream is real
another man
picks up the flag
the standard flies again
i fall
to the Rebel yell and
wake singing
"Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land."

Note:  The average life of a standard or flag bearer in battle was two to three minutes. Six to nine men were assigned to protect and fly the standard as a rallying point in battle.  It was a position of honor. It was considered an act of bravery to capture the standard of an enemy.

Insanity

Getting Real in an imaginary garden and trying to remember after a night at The Poets Pub...creative challenge.
They labeled me crazy
Put me away
They were serious
I only played

In the ink spots I saw
Wonderful imagery
Of Oz and Disneyland
Christopher Robin's tree

The Wicked Witch is dead
Get outta my head I screamed
Can't you see Toto?
I know life is but a dream

Try to remember
That's what they said
Try to remember
Spill what's in your head

What was in my memory
Did not suit their plan
So Toto and I just sit
Holding (Winnie the) Pooh's hand

Full Moon Madness

...or Sky Watch Friday.

Lunacy: 1. insanity; mental disorder 2. intermittent insanity, formerly believed to be related to phases of the moon.

Synonyms: dementia, derangement, disturbance, madness, mental illness, unbalance, absurdity, folly, idiocy, insanity, nonsense, silliness.

What is she talking about???????

Sometimes, I do think the moon affects us. If it can move the tides, how can it not affect the human or the inhuman in us?I do not sleep well during the full moon nor the couple of nights leading up to it. Is it lunacy? Is the werewolf coming out? This could explain my touchiness, my hairy legs and getting long in the tooth.

I even get the urge to howl at the moon, scratch myself, and run through the woods! No purpose, just run and howl at the moon.

I think my hubby would agree, I growl a lot. He once had a sign that said, "My wife is part Indian and part pit bull. When she's not on the warpath, she is sitting on her ass, growling."

I think I am onto something here...I must research!
