For Alex...

I first met Alex a hundred years ago when he became my good-natured adversary.  I would post a picture of a bird, a butterfly or a plant.  Alex would jokingly ask, "But what KIND is it?"  I think he knew I was a person who had to answer any question.  I worked hard identifying what creature or plant was going to be in my post. We bantered back and forth.  I discovered he is author of at least three books and is a well-rounded happy family man with a similar sense of humor.  We both like to play with words.

This post is for you, dear Alex.  Bet you would've had to look them up too!
A Mormon Metalmark or Apodemia mormo
enjoying a meal of pollen on purple cone flower
or Echinacea purpurea  .
Rose of Sharon bush or Hibiscus syriacus.
Photinus Coleoptera
or Lightning Bug or Firefly.
Their light is used to attract mates or meals.
Pterophylla camellifolia  or Katydid
sitting on Plantago major or Plantian
Leopard frog or Lithobates sphenocephalus
sitting on tire (Good Year)
with Johnson Grass and Virginia Creeper.

Happy Friday, Alex!!!
I am open to correction if I've named anything wrong.

Frog Fib

Imaginary Garden With Real Toads has a mini weekend challenge.  This challenge required a certain form and so I try because I like challenges.
Do
You
Think I
Can count spots
On this Leopard frog
As he hides in running water?

Thursday's Things In A Row

My theme today is just for Pat.
She loves spiders and that is that.
So if you dislike spiders at all,
Time to run or look to the wall.
A Leopard Frog has rows of spots
And waits for spiders
Believe or not.
This gives you time to back out
SPIDERS AHEAD!
LOOK OUT!
Each has legs,
count them...eight.
Eyes are different
They can have zero to eight.
Some build webs
Some just crawl
But they eat bugs
That's the best part of all.

So rows of eight
Are my rows today
I can't wait to hear
What Pat has to say!

Where Pat is my friend
After these spiders
That may all end.

Early Sunday Morning

I had the pleasure of meeting Leopard Frog King. We chatted awhile and he seemed content with our conversation.I introduced him to another friend of mine, Mr Fake Turtle. At first they chatted but I think the king took offense at something Mr T said.
The King has left the building.
