Sunshine On Water

Gotta love it in February.
Reminds you all is right with your world
unless
there's a zombie apocalypse,
an unfriendly world invasion of alien life forms,
a catastrophic natural event that plunges the world into an ice age
or a nuclear winter
Or you computer dies.

Kinda puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

The Pack

playing with sticks and each other
Gathering around Hubby for some love.  Maggie is his Border Collie with Bonnie and Ki-Anne.
Ki-Anne and Bonnie...I believe Bonnie is gonna to outweigh her soon.
Everyone loved the sunshine.
Lil patiently waits for the stick to be thrown.

Sunday Was A Spring Day...

Ice was removed from the water gardens and fresh water added.  So far so good.  All the chickens, dogs and birds enjoy these gardens as much as I do.
Got my boots wet
and muddy
Pruned the fig, removed dead wood, wisteria and rose limbs
Now it's ready for spring with waste to burn.

Trimmed a lot more bushes here and there and decided to quit when I got my last owie.  I keep Walmart in business just with band aides and antibiotics.
We accomplished a lot more Sunday but I will save some excitement for another post.

The temperatures are dropping but we had one day to play.  We were grateful for that day.

Stay warm.

Through Marcy's Lens

There are some days you just want to say
P--- on it!
Never give up.
See sunshine on the webs.
and diamonds that appear in the morning dew.
Be grateful
you're not the spider's lunch
Hide if you must but only for a short while
There's always worm poop
But if the light's right
It's a work of art
Enjoy the sunshine on the web of life...
and smile.

And The Sun Shines On...

after cold rain and fog.
Sometimes, it's fun to look back,
while we're moving forward.
Could be dangerous, too.
It's always reassuring to know,
whether we see it or not,
the sun does rise every day...
and the Son is always with us.
A happy update from Missouri dog,
with his new squirrel toy...
I would say, this is a happy dog!

The Power of Water...

The power of moving water is devastating.
We are very, very lucky.
Many others were not so lucky.
Instead of napping when I knocked out hubby,
I walked and looked.
We do have a home and noone lost their life,
for that I am thankful.
This was pasture.
This was a fence.
The water was shirt-deep as I walked up the creek.
I was checking on the culverts I posted about a few weeks ago.
This is where they used to be,
this one landed WAYYYY down stream.
Can't cross here any more.
To give you an idea how large these are,
This is my foot as I am climbing over.
We were blessed with a beautiful day.  Promise of more rain in two days makes me uneasy.  All pond levees held and the terraces did their jobs well...it could have been much worse.  Mother Nature has reshaped the land and we will work with what we have.
The road out of our valley is more like a pioneer trail,
but the sky smiled today.

This N That

I have been remiss with my commenting.  No excuses!  Well, I have a list if you want them...laundry, dishes, cooking, work, and a good book.  If you like suspense, murder and love stories all wrapped in one, read The Last Child by John Hart.  It is fantastic!  I have missed reading blogs but John Hart had me wrapped around his finger and would not let me go.

The temps are cooler so that is a relief.  I can tell the difference in the people, every one is feeling happier.  Now, if we just get a few good rains, we will be partying.
I have had some bad days and some good days this week but I must remember the sun shines on all of us.

We have had a good run in the garden.

Poo Princess, Doo-Doo Diva, Manure Mistress

I am in my element, glory be!  A sunshiney day, a no hat, no glove, no coat day and I feel I am in heaven.  All of you were right...SUNSHINE was the cure, and poop.

I sit with a two liter Dr Pepper, swigging away, after I removed my manure dust-coated outer clothing.  I am so thankful to enjoy this day!

I spent my day in the barn.  The horses are not stalled, they come and go but while in the barn, they poop...a lot.  Since it has been so cold and I have been so lazy, it has waited.  No poop fairy came while I was asleep and cleaned the barn, it all waited on me.  It was glorius!
I am not being a horse's butt about the weather.
I just have to say, this was the cure and you told me!  A wonderful sunshiney warm day, oops, did I already say that?
I packed my bag with camera and pop, found a handy place to set them and went to work.  I shoveled, I raked, I shoveled, I raked and I smiled.  The most perfect theraphy I could have.
Look at all this wonderful, garden enriching, plant growing, free recycled feed!  Just laying there waiting for me to shovel and rake.
Yoda is training to be a stock dog.
Here's my proof, see horse hair and manure.
I even brushed my babies...they were so BIG!  I had forgotten I did not have miniature horses any more.  I snapped the camera at them.  I hugged and loved and brushed and they tolerated it all very well.

My Poor Pitiful Car

Dirt and mud clings to it while this morning's view of the valley was frosty and cool...but there was a hint of something new in the sky.
Just for a moment,
through my dirty windshield,
I spied a stranger
and life became better for it.
Sunshine!
It did not stay long
but it warmed the air
and held the promise of spring.
The last of the snow
is leaving reluctantly.
