The term "corn pone" is often used as a noun to refer to those who have certain rural, unsophisticated peculiarities. As well as an adjective to describe "hick" characteristics. The term is often directed at those from rural areas where inbreeding is rampant.

Your laugh for the day...a real walk, uh, stumble, with me in the semi-wild along the declining creek.
Hope this isn't too scary and you come back to visit now and then.

Getting Out and About...
I've been out of commission since Hubby's hospital gig but maybe I'm improving almost two months later. I should be put down but can't find anyone to do it.
I decided even though it's been raining in great amounts and was still trying to rain that I needed some fresh air and some good ole get outside and feel good time.
I decided even though it's been raining in great amounts and was still trying to rain that I needed some fresh air and some good ole get outside and feel good time.
Well, it was muddy.
I headed up hill
and the pack followed.
Found fresh deer "tracks"
and we explored some deep woods.
What I thought was going to be a rescue
turned into a treasure to keep...
a shell complete with bones!
About now I'm wondering why I chose this way to walk
I tried to capture a picture of the thorns I'm walking through
After emerging here
I discover I've lost my camera!!!
Sooooooooooooo....
I had to climb back up this nice slope
(mountain!)
I had slid down.
I'm thinking, Idiot!
Total loss is not covered by warranty!
I put on my Daniel Boone eyes
and engage my Einstein brain
to try and track myself.
After what seemed a long time
I found it!
Laying where I had battled with briers.
Hubby was looking for me.
I'd been gone too long.
Bleeding and covered with ticks
I was proud of my turtle treasure
and my tracking abilities.

Sunday...
I pour my Dr Pepper into a glass of ice too fast. I am too slow to sip quickly and avoid the overflow of bubbles that splat onto the floor. I find a paper towel laying alone as if for this very purpose and clean my mess blaming nothing but my lack of attention to detail.
I wisely decide to go for a walk.
Just me and my Fat Baby boots
The dogs joined us.
Fat Baby on a log,
Fat Baby on a rock,
and Fat Baby on a rail road tie.
The pair and I had a good time.
On the way back home
nestled in the woods
by the remains of an old barrel
we shared a glimpse of spring.

A Walk...
was long overdue for me. I headed to the fresh dirt where Dalton has found his spear head. I dawdled. At the risk of sounding like Martha Stewart, that's a good thing.
Part of the farm pack joined me.
I discovered Blue Heron tracks,
very large compared to the dog tracks.
I didn't find an arrowhead but I found a worked tool.
What a wonder to hold history in my hand.
The pack had to explore every smell around
and enjoy the water.
I made a big circle by the spring through the garden, by and over the creek, through the cow lot and back to the yard. This was my last shot as I climbed the steps to remove my muddy shoes and wash my hands, renewed again by the beauty of the land around me.

Today...
Kubota King is checking in for new heart plumbing. He has had pneumonia but heart doc says, no prob! I have written DNR on his chest in permanent marker and nothing he's tried will remove it. Keep us in your thoughts, please.
Sunday, the only thing that saved this man from me was my walk. Even though it was hot, it was peaceful, relaxing and allowed me to shed my murderous intentions.
These are the rocks hubby brought me for the entry, hoping to get on my good side. Notice how perfectly they fit together! Notice, once again, the dumb damsel is wearing flip flops during forest exploration.
We did some exploring,
enjoyed the beautiful skies,
flowers,
and butterflies.
After my relaxing walk, I did help remove the permanent marker so we are good to go, today.

Little Dog Playing Big Dog
Yoda travelin' in the snow
No, Mom, you can't make me cross that creek!
Just try to make me...I am not doin' it!
My feet are freezing.
Now, why in the world did you put me up here?
The warm house is that way!

More Pictures...Fewer Words
It is...was a beautiful day. Warm, windy, and did I say wonderfully, comfortingly warm!
No snow, no rain, only mud left over from both.
No snow, no rain, only mud left over from both.
Started at the barn with my four God-Given equine treasures.
(Refer to previous post, My Mistakes, My Glories.)
All not recently groomed with their winter coats.

As you can see the wind is blowing.
I took pictures of Arrow's whorls so I can get them read by some whorl expert (y'all!). In this picture you can see plainly why he is dubbed Broken Arrow.
Knot was too busy eating to smile for the camera.
Showing Magic's blue eye.
It was a day for muck boots, not these!
It was warm enough that the mud felt quite wonderful pouring through all the holes
while I was trying to keep my balance.
Maggie and Lil anticipating the walk
Then we walked.
Then we walked.
One of five ponds we have. This is the New pond, meaning it was built in the last twenty years. We also have the Top Pond, the Highline Pond, the Frog or Hog Pond and the Spring Pond.
Parts of the creek no one sees
Help! I lost my feet!
The sky darkens!
Watching Lil hunt a varmint.
Enjoyed the day and took many pictures.
and found my feet!
