To YoU

I've been struggling to reach the sun.
I may be rising above Under now,
May we always have color
and an abundance of wishes.
Thank you, Faithful Readers.

Do The Words Nut Hatch...

remind you of me?  Nope, not the opening into my house!  I promised no more birds but I took a moment to soak up the sun while reading a good book. Soon the White-Breasted Nuthatch had me under his/her spell.
There it is sneaking down to the feeders.
Not the normal White-Breasted Nuthatch who travels the tree looking for goodies. This smart one was retrieving goodies from the feeders and STASHING the seeds in nooks and crannies of the tree. She/he ain't no dummy!  With seed in bill, it would hammer enthusiastically to fit the seed in place for a later time. Upside down, sideways it worked diligently to store food for another day.
I was never quite quick enough to photograph her action.  She became paranoid about her stash, which I have heard is normal for those who have "stashes" and quickly moved to another tree so I would not know the location of the bounty.
The sun's light warmed my day.  With a good book and my camera I ignored any work. It was a day long over due.

The Past Several Days

were rough.  I don't know if it was the holidays or the weather front or my birthday but something had me out of balance.  I won't complain about rain because we've needed it so long.  Weather changes affect my fibromyalgia. I take nothing for that except OTC like Tylenol.  Many family members came and we had a good time so...what was it???

I have no idea but I know what helped it!  My friend, Sandy, sent me the most delicious surprise! Four of the biggest, most delicious, and prettiest caramel apples I've ever seen, four different flavors, too.  The full four did not last for picture taking.  Thank you, Sandy!
Today a package arrived all the way from the United Kingdom from another friend, Lynne. Tea!
I do love good tea.
Thank you, Lynne!
The art work on the box made me happy!
Beautiful...off to have some hot English tea.

Thank you, dear friends, the timing was perfect.

To Honor All Veterans

(picture prompt provided by Tess)
TO HONOR ALL VETERANS

Words are inadequate
to name the sacrifice
of our world's veterans

Know the feeling
in these two words
comes
from the depth of my heart

THANK YOU!

To All Veterans...

THANK YOU!
I honor and respect all who have served and are serving.  A veteran taught me that.  It's still with me as the man who taught me is always in my heart.  His honor, his respect, his honesty, his patriotism was an attribute I wish more citizens had.  I am proud to say he was my father.
Thanks, Dad!
Thanks to all who have served and are serving.
May God bless you every one.

2012...Thank You

I thank you for your kind words and thoughts about my previous post.  It was something, as painful as it was, that I seemed compelled to do, be it attributed to a crazy mind or a big heart, it was difficult.  It was not something I did lightly.  There's were months of thought, gallons of tears, and much research that went into this decision.  It was not for me.  It was for my beauties, my dolls, my horses, that I made this decision, and for the children that will be touched by their presence, guided by their gentleness, and loved by my big babies.

The equine director was grateful for the gift since they had more children than mounts.  He was impressed with their beauty, their skills and their gentleness.  I have an open invitation to visit any time.

I was not here when they left...I could not handle that, it is even difficult now to write about it. I still cry. I apologize for not answering each kind and supportive comment individually.  I want to thank each and every one for your prayers, your kind words, and your support.  It only enforced my belief that blogdom is full of kind people and dear friends...thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The thought came to me in my emptiness that there would be no more At The Farm or Familiar Spirit but there is still a farm with many animals and livestock and much living to share.

May 2012 be a blessed year for all of us.

Puppy Love And Cold Feet

I would like to thank every one for all your kind comments, your prayers and the wonderful ideas for catching these scumbags that stole from us.  I shall set bear traps and cameras...but I won't let them steal my trust in humanity.  The sun always comes up and what goes around comes around.  Thank you, each and every one, for letting us know we are not alone.
What does that have to do with cold feet, you may ask...nothing, except at nine degrees F, my feet get cold.  I know that is a heat wave for some of you but for me, that's just too darn cold!  These are rocks on the house through my frosty car window.

Now, for puppy love...you know I'm weak. I go ga-ga over puppies and would have a hundred if I could...but I resist, most of the time.  Today I could not!
Could you resist this???
She, yes, she is a natural bob tail!
Mama was dropped off at some one's house,
nine puppies came.
The lady is finding homes for them.
Guess who one sucker was???  I could not resist.  I have no idea what she is.  Mom is a stock dog mix but baby is very small.  They were born around Halloween so she is around three months old.  There were four natural bobs in the litter, the others had tails.

Now, I really need your help with this...I need a name!!!  Andrew has suggested DB for Dumb Blonde, although a very intelligent choice, I don't think it fits.  Also would like some input as to what breeds may lie within this beautiful, has-stolen-my-heart, wrong-time-of-year-to-get-a-dog, puppy.  Any suggestions??

As The Crows Fly...

I tried to capture them but they were too fast for my camera finger.  This is the road that leads to the farm and the life I share with you.

Today is a very special day.  This is post number one thousand and I wonder how in the world I had enough words and thoughts to write that many!

I thank each and every one who have read and commented or just read and enjoyed.  Thank you!!

This Is Me, Smiling

I just noticed I have ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-ONE  followers.  One hundred twenty-one people who think I write something worth reading!!!

This is just simply amazing to me, and I am so proud.  I remember when I first started, I worried and wondered if anyone would ever read my post and comment.  I wondered, will they follow?

You have  made my dream come true!  I am so pleased  you are listening.  You have listened to me rant, cry, moan and complain.  You have shared laughter, life and happiness with me. You have helped me through the valleys and celebrated when I reached  the mountain tops.

I have decided each and every one of deserve a gift and my thanks.

I thank you.

The gift is coming up....

I present the gift of....
an early spring.

Where ever you are, no matter the weather, know that underneath that snow, spring is getting ready and I wish yall an early spring.

Thanks!

Ramblings...

First I want to thank everyone for helping me end ...slow down...the hoarfrost argument. Den is still commenting and I just ignore him 'cuz I know I'm right! I did get another interesting name to throw in the pot for this lovely wonder of nature. DesertHen has shared the name of pogonip frost which is a very interesting name.

Carla had asked if we had much snow in Arkansas. Not much snow here. One year we had eighteen inches and stopped most people from moving at all. I like the kind that comes on Friday and has melted by Monday morning.

This award is for everyone who reads my ramblings. Everyone who comments and actually makes me feel like I am being heard.
Something or Someone has sent me here. If you asked me, do you want to blog, a few months ago, I would have said nonsense, I do not have the time nor the want to. Why would I blog???
I have met so many wonderful, humorous, delightful, kind, and caring people since I began.
I have learned, been encouraged, been supported and have been cheered.
I hope that I have entertained you. I hope some things I've said made a difference. I hope that I have made you smile...and sometimes, made you teary-eyed. If I have touched your heart in any way or just let you know you are not alone, this award is for you.
Thank you. Your welcome here anytime!
