A comment I made earlier on a friends blog made me remember this.
When the children were young, we use to take them to drive in movies. There were no ratings on movies and you just went to see them. As we drove in, the bill said Alice in Wonderland and Pinocchio, Double Feature...alright, how lucky could we get? The perfect show for children.
We gathered our popcorn and drinks and all the drive-in goodies, placed the speakers on the car doors and settled in to watch a movie with the kiddies.
Alice was sitting on a mushroom/toad stool, having quite a good time. Caterpillar came along and asked what she was doing. Alice said she felt good and she felt bad. Caterpillar said "If it feels good, do it".
Thank goodness, the girls were occuppied with their goodies because with that last line, which I did not remember from the Lewis Carrol version, hubby and my mouths were dropping open.
We replaced the speakers and drove back to the ticket stand. I asked the lady, Did you know it was
That Kind of movie? She answered with a sweet smile, yes, honey and it ain't Pinocchio's Nose that grows either!
Needless to say, we did get a refund.
a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Seeing White
Almost dark, I am driving home and who do I see?
A mirror pair, one looking at me.
So strange to see, almost a statue, looking not quite real.
Then today, I see her in the neighborhood,
and whip my car into a side road, I know this is my chance...but she bounds away before I can get close enough.
My neighbors may be calling the law to report a drive by shooting...with the camera of course. I am going to get the perfect shot, one of these days, I am gonna do it!

Memories
This post is very special and very cool in it timing.
My six hundredth post and my fifty-fifth birthday are landing on the same day. It is a day to celebrate. I have enjoyed my journey through life and my journey through blogdom. I have met many fantastically wonderful people and feel as if I know you personally although we have never met. Thank you for sharing your life with me.
Families have many traditions. My family had some strange ones and they came from Daddy. I think maybe Mom objected but Dad won.
The first snow we were always set outside the house barefooted and in our gown tail straight from the bed. We could not enter the house until we ran around it, not too bad because we only had a three room house. Now, you may be shocked about this blatant disregard for the care of a minor but we loved it. I do not know if this was a tradition handed down or if it belonged only to Daddy, I never asked so I will never know. The purpose was if you got your bare feet in the first snow, your feet would be warm all winter. I do not remember having cold feet but it could be due to the bread sacks Momma made us wear over our shoes as we walked to catch the bus or the bucket of coals we carried to the bus stop on winter mornings. I remember going barefoot in the snow and not having a second thought about it, not because I had to but because I liked the feel of the snow on my bare feet. I guess I have Daddy to thank for that strange habit.
Our second tradition, but not the last(I shall save them for other posts) was homemade wine on Christmas morning. Yes, again we were minors and no, none of us drink in the mornings but Christmas was special. Dad would make wine, Concord grape wine, Elderberry wine, Possum grape wine, and others according to what crop was good that year. Christmas was our morning to taste the batch. We had old snuff glasses and Daddy would fill them half full and give all of us a glass of wine, even Momma would have one. Whether it was a good year or not, we would ooo and aaaaw over the taste to make Daddy feel good. Christmas wasn't filled with lots of presents but we always had our wine and we always sang Christmas songs around the tree.
After opening the presents, Momma would fix a huge breakfast and we would all set around the table, warm inside from Christmas wine and a family tradition of love and togetherness.

She Was Out!
Coming home I barely missed two deer that jumped out in front of me.
I thought I bet the white lady is out.
And there she was in all her glory!
It is deer season and I hope the neighbors keep her protected. Game and Fish says she needs to be killed because she introduces weaker genes to the deer pool. Aunty Mary use to say whites would make the herd weak. I could not be the one to make this shot!
Do not worry as I did about the spot on her inside leg, Hubby says this is her scent area and all deer have them.
Did you notice, I am getting a little closer to the perfect shot? I was a contortionist while taking this picture. I was twisted backward in the car seat, lifting the camera over the door and shooting totally behind me. A car came along or I would have gotten better shots.
Before this winter is over, I shall show the perfect shot, unless you get tired of seeing my bad ones.
