a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

A Chill Is In The Air...

although the sun shines and the valley is turning green.

Looking out the window I see the grass could use some mowing but Tractor Man is also Lawnmower Man. I have no skill with small engine repair so the grass grows.  I do not mention it.  I think if I had my horses this would not be a problem.  They would trim the lawn in no time and not wander off like cattle do when they have no fence.

I stand by the fireplace and pull my shirt away so the rising warmth will reach my bare skin.  Warming the core of me while I wonder what comes next.

Two thousandth post today and it seems empty for such a large milestone.

Saturday Centus 155...The Horrid Dr. Baker

“Dr” Baker began a cancer healing center in Eureka Springs in the Crescent Hotel.  It was a ruse to take money and experiment without restrictions.

We were told of a “quiet room” where patients were kept for their treatments. The Rooms were sound proofed so the screams could not be heard.

“This will just pinch a little” as the loaded syringe with a cocktail containing carbolic acid was injected into the patients five times a day.

The screams echoed unacknowledged and unheard by love ones who sent money.

I imagine the patients are in charge now as they treat Norman daily while his screams remain unheard.

Beneath My Bed...

lurks some unknown
It still is there
Although I'm grown.

From sound sleep
I will wake
If I reach the edge
My life's at stake

I know it's crazy
But it's also real
There no controlling
How I feel.

Boogeyman
Unknown fear
Waits all night
For parts to appear

If  I jump
Not wide enough
I run the chance
Of getting snuffed.

Boogeymen and scores unseen
Wait beneath my bed
"They like the tender ones,"
My sister always said.

After The Rain...

The waters have receded.
The flood height is shown by the leaves.
May Apples are coming up right on time.
Another dry ditch where the leaves mark the water lines.
Rock Hollow
called me.
I answered the call.
We explored.
Returning from my walk
I emptied my pockets.
