a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Saving The Basement...

from the next high water.
Every job needs a boss and Andrew did well.
The grade had to be lowered to allow the water
to run down the hill instead of into the basement.
Hubby works magic with his bucket.
The saving slope is reestablished
and ready for the next big rain.

EXTREME Recycling

My holey rolls project is working fairly well but need to stabilize them more.  This is on the screened porch...The Dreaming Porch.  The old warming oven is from my childhood "playhouse" in the glade.
I continue to work on my new water garden.  I have "created" a visual rustic block enclosing under the screened porch by adding old tin and tiny scraps of board with one old vent cover along the top.  The weather has slowed my progress a little.
The next project while in the planning stage is to visually block the under side of the porch...instant dog lounge.  Cool, shaded, dirt to dig and I don't have to see it.
With a few tools, some boards good for nothing else and some time...
One more little piddly project done with nothing but recycled wood.
"Waste not, want not."
Wondering what insane project I will do next?
Me, too!

Shhhhhh For Poetry Jam

Walking creek side
Laughter fell out
'Cause it was that kinda day
We found something
That belongs underground
Trying to spell
The Yellow Jackets
Made an 'S'
Before one rebel
Sparing us
Attacked poor Lil
Sad for the dog
We ran with no laughter
"No one dared
Disturb the Sound of Silence"

My entry for Poetry Jam writing prompt today.  Inspired by them and the yellow jackets.  Join the fun.

After The Storm...

One of the little splinters that blew
over the house into the front yard
Another huge "splinter" in the fern bed
After the limbs were cleared...
TIMBER!
The car did not have a scratch however the electronics in the truck were damaged.  That is in the shop for repairs.  The wiring for the phone lines has been replaced, new Internet modem installed and one phone that was not killed rings shrilly.

I did not miss the phone.
A new sand bar is formed in the creek
and a water gate is destroyed.
The nice thing about our valley the waters recede quickly
even though destruction is left in its wake.
The ponds are flowing out the spillways
the cattle are happy in their green grass
and we endure Nature's tantrum
because of her wonderful gifts.

Southern Fried Electronics and Flash Fried Tree

Thank all of you who voiced concern during my absence.  I have some funny movies to share but Google has been accommodating as usual. What should have taken only minutes has taken all evening to share.  Enjoy!
Excuse the dirty words and the hysteria.  I've been through a few tornadoes and thunder storms and do respect the power and danger. I think the big mouthed female behind the camera adds to the humor.
With people losing homes and more during this awful weather
we have been very blessed when electronics is all we lose.
We hope all remain safe.
