a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

dVerse~Poets Pub The Old House

THE OLD HOUSE

The old house sat without a care
Drops floated on liquid air
The night sky empty except for fog
Held no sound, no monologue
The old house stood strong and fair.

We stood where our ancestors dared
We sang their praises, said a prayer,
And stumbled lost into the bog
The old house sat.

We suddenly became aware
The porch held a rocking chair
The eyes saw not where the feet could slog
We whispered a dialogue
To remind us, Beware!
The old house sat.

Poetry Jam Mirrors...

Dad stood in the mirror
With Alzheimer's in his head
He smiled, tipped his hat
"See that old man," he said.

Dad stood in the mirror
I stood with him hiding tears
Trying to share his world
As I had throughout the years.

Dad stood in the mirror
Where time moves too fast
Oh, Dad, how I loved you
From the beginning to the last.

Random Thoughts

I totally dislike the Geico commercial with Old McDonald!  The logical way for Old McDonald to spell cow would be E-I-E-I-O not  c-o-w-e-i-e-i-o.  Remember the line "..and on that farm he had a cow, E-I-E-I-O"
Spelling Bee may have a cute "Dagnabbit" in it but it doesn't make me happy.  Maybe the Spock in me coming out.

We go soon to have Andrew's broken foot checked.  Hopefully he will be running and dancing soon.

We had ice in the water buckets Wednesday morning so fall is leaving us (unintended pun).
The flowers linger.
 The moon still rises

A Talented Friend With Dogs

I've been blogging since September '09.  This is my two-thousandth one hundredth ninety-second  post on At The Farm.  I have a few followers and have met many wonderful people.  I am grateful every day for those who visit.  Thank you.

One lady whom I call friend even though we've never met lives in the United Kingdom with her husband and three beautiful dogs.  She writes Dip-Dip and The Bridge and is a talented seamstress with talent in many other fields.  Her Mini-Mes  are everywhere and now this amazing women is sketching.

...and that's why this grasshopper is shown again.  She asked my permission to sketch it.

This lady is amazing.
Stop by and say hello.
Thanks for allowing me to use your art, "Mum".
