The nest was empty in the thorny bush
Woven by mastery not learned in a book
The fledglings departed a late summer day
Lock stock and barrel they flew away
Waiting for the next guest
To line with feathers and grass
Be mindful of the thorns
They're a pain in the ass.

Looking Spring In The Eye
Marcy's many tulips were nodding their pretty heads
as the wind blew the bees away.
The family lilac survived.
For a time I had my doubts.
The flowering almond has crowded the Bridal's Wreath
while the second butterfly of the year
tasted the Money plant.

Faces From The Shop
Today I worked at the family "shop".
Many people enjoy the step back in time.
Memories resurface from times past
Treasures tucked in every corner
With faces everywhere
Some old friends
And some that are a little scary
Faces we have grown up with
Remind us of the child still inside.
Tucked in surprise places
Familiar faces make us smile
Others make you wonder...
how in the heck did they think of that.
