and we had a ball!!! Two Shoes got to see I wasn't lying about all my messes and work I have to do. Wendy was a delight as was her husband John. I think this is a lovely picture of Wendy but, alas, my model days are over.
I went all out for refreshments...Oreos and iced tea!
The time was spent seeing all the places I talk about on this blog, meeting our animals and just touring. There was lots of laughter and even some mechanical break downs. Tractor man had to tow us in the Ranger to the house. Ah, such is farming.
Thank you, Wendy and John for taking a chance that we were not ax murderers and stopping by to visit.
Y'all are welcome any time!
Two Shoes word prompts for this Tuesday were peace or play. I believe this may be a story about both of these.
a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Talented Woman Creates Shelf...
I just like the way that sounds. I am not DIY program material but I'm getting better every day. I know you are tired of me tooting my own horn but, by golly, I've done good. Here is where we were before I started today. Way too many wires and way too much junk.
My dear friend Linda mentioned using an old water hose to contain the tangle of too many wires. I cut a small length and slit it end to end. Much easier than trying to run the wires through the hose. After covering the wires the water hose just popped back into place.
Ta daaaa! My sneaky way to hide the wires. If you squint you can't see the hose and the other wires are covered by the material...and the mess is gone. Well, not gone but it is much neater.

I painted the water hose the same color as the wall and did some touch up work where I had drilled too many holes trying to hang all these things. Hint: When attaching electronics to wall, place a piece of paper on the back of equipment and mark the screw or nail holes. Hold paper to wall, screw or nail the marks on the paper, remove paper, hang thingy. So easy!!!
Yep, that's a shelf. This is the broken side rail to Andrew's black bed. Hubby helped me drill holes into the heavy metal and attached my painted shelf brackets. I have a plan here and I swear they are getting better. Remember that thing I built to hold pens, glasses etc. I called it a prototype I believe. Well, it's going back to the drawing board. I still have too many wires!!!Ta daaaa! My sneaky way to hide the wires. If you squint you can't see the hose and the other wires are covered by the material...and the mess is gone. I'm not finished.
This is the entry into the plum room that I finished a little while ago. Remember, it looks pink.
One side in this room
The futon/bunk finished with some Christmas decorations.
The final look. Damn, I'm glad it's done.
Andrew loves it and I'm sure Jake will, too.
Next week maybe I will bore you with what I'm doing to my craft room!

The First Day Of Retirement...
I got up at six AM, woke Andrew for football practice, picked up Marcy at the truck shop, came home and worked outside.
Decided the water garden desperately needed my attention today. I began removing the money plants, pulling weeds while topping off the water. Also let the water soak a few weeds for me.
Here's my pile of removed undesirables. Dead money plants, a few weeds and the grass I pulled was replanted elsewhere. Grass is very valuable right now.
Looking a little better but hours to go before I'm finished. It has taken all summer to get this grown up so will take me more than a couple of hours to bring it back to its proper state but progress was made. Yes, there is a water garden there, full of water plants.
Honey Suckle and Golden Rod are not my friends any more. I am kicking them out of the garden.
One happy flower.
One unfinished job.
This soft little office girl has blisters
but I still know how to work.
So begins retirement.

And On We Go...
I'm good at wasting time and letting nothing waste. I spent one afternoon going through my acrylic paints that were drying up and rinsing each bottle to get the last drop of color out. Why, you may ask.
Moving a chest into Andrew's bathroom, a larger better one and I didn't think he would like this color.
I had no paint except red or purple so I created a manly color out of all my bits and pieces. I also got to throw away about twenty bottles out of my paint box so there is room again! I use an old carpenter's wooden carrier for my paints...now I have room for my Gesso and a cup of brushes....and we have a new color.
Looking good, kinda dull, I liked the pink white washed look but Andrew isn't into pink. It's between a dark tan and army green. Not bad, and I am so proud of saving the paint and ditching those bottles. I ran into some colors that didn't mix well but the brush works great for that problem, just keep layering it on!
It was a good idea to put boxes under my work 'cause I got a little carried away. One more coat and all should be even and officially a dresser made for a young man's dressing room.
Off to paint...waste not, want not.
