a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Prejudice

A mass of children
spin their threads
into a blind web
that drums with power
until
one
voice
insists,
Think, people!
We
are
not
the
same
A combined prompt with picture from Magpie Tales
and words from The Sunday Whirl

Soul Mate

plans and dreams
shot down
with the scatter gun
of life
are nothing

YOU,
the soul of  me,
always
give
more

To Honor All Veterans

(picture prompt provided by Tess)
TO HONOR ALL VETERANS

Words are inadequate
to name the sacrifice
of our world's veterans

Know the feeling
in these two words
comes
from the depth of my heart

THANK YOU!

The Topaz

shared with Poets United

I was the topaz
between two diamonds
a Poe-ish love
Paris was a dream
talked of in tree houses
on rainy days

The passion of young love
the sadness of loss
could be tasted
in our tiptoed kiss
and then
I moved away

All Is Well?

A past summer day
of fireflies apples and daisies
does not cover
the fallen stars of our nation

Some wear many bracelets
but dedicated to none
we swirl and twist our causes
careful to keep them secret

While we still refuse
to remove the glasses
those rose colored glasses
that erroneously confirm
All is well

Japanese Death Poem

Jisei
Hanging by threads
I could have enjoyed more color
As a mother I loved you both
more than life
I let go
stepped back
and wondered
how I could have loved you
better

dverse~Poets Pub presents a prompt to write a Japanese Death Poem or Jisei...the last words before you die.  I have combined that prompt with the collage prompt from MindLoveMisery's Menagerie.
I am also adding a link to Poets United: Poetry Pantry.  Thank you all for encouraging me to write.

My Epitaph

Mindlovemisery's Menagerie
B&P Shadorma and Beyond – The Epitaph
The challenge is to write our own epitaph.

Here's lies Gail
end of trail swinging
on the gates
heavenward
she's giving the angels hell
no surprise...it's Gail

Time

Weekend Mini-challenge
With picture prompt from Mindlovemisery's Menagerie

After midnight we turn
into what we were
party's over
masks are dropped

Locking ourselves
in rooms of regret
we question the realities
of time after time

Like Alice the sign says eat
we do
the hands drop from time
as Poe's Raven screams Nevermore

Sing Back

Old Bank Street, Manchester, UK by R.A.D. Stainforth

Sing back a frame
That did exist
A fiery re-call becomes
A chance to repair
To craft a new deal
From time gone
Add your wishes
This moment
Like a boat's sail
Will billow full again
