a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

A Walk

A WALK
Are you sure you want to follow?
The water's cold and the rocks are hard
Are you sure you want to follow?
We will be leaving the safety of the yard

Are you sure you want to follow?
Lil's eyes said to me
Are you sure you want to follow?
Who knows what waits beneath the trees

I was sure to follow
Over ever hill and rock
I was sure to follow
Even through the gates that lock

I was sure to follow
Down the deep creek bed
I was sure to follow
Trusting I felt no dread.
We saw birds and cattle
We saw deer in a row
We saw our breath in the air
We decided it was time to go.

Art With The Mag

le Jardin, 1962, by Max Ernst

Orange, yellow, blue and green
Surround a woman underground
Not to bloom or blossom
but rather to rot or drown

Art is in the eye of the beholder
As poetry is in the heart
He painted what I could not see
I rambled...yet both are art

dVerse~Poets Pub Terza Rima...

  • dVerse~Poets Pub poetry challenge  This Thursday our challenge was a Terza Rima rhyming poetry in tercets...what the ???  Anyway, here's my attempt.  "The first and third lines of each subsequent stanza rhyme with the second line from the stanza before, so the rhyme scheme is aba bcb cdc and so on.  You need at least three stanzas to produce the musical effect of the chain-rhyming."
Revealed as a snake in the grass,
Injecting your venom
Withdrawing was low class
My personal prison
 Was this empty shell
Newly arisen
I have rebelled
By floating away
I've escaped your hell

Dreaming...

I can't say
I do not dream
I feel my eyes
Move quickly
Observing worlds
As I sleep
I dream
But the memories of it
Slip away
And lay on the edge
Just out of reach
Enough to be strangers.

Attempting Poetry...

Playing with Toads
Moss grows northward
On rough bark of tree roots and logs
Moss grows northward
Celebrating the rain it grows
Thicker and greener in cool shade
Weeping shades of green while it crawls
Moss grows northward

Icy Prompt From Poets United...

Rays of ice reach for spring
Spinning their own web
We see lily buds beneath
See life suspended
Surviving
Showing faith
Far greater than humans
Hues of spring
Spiral beneath
Black icy water
Waiting for the word to emerge
