Fences, Good and Otherwise

 Fences sometimes hold things in
Sometimes they keep them out
They're known to make a stand
or just give a shout
A collection of rocks
a pile of sand
what hides beyond
where this fence stands?

Coming soon.

Fences and High Places

In blue skies a turkey buzzard glides on a beautiful fall day.
The summer grasses begin to brown as we enter fall.
Checking fences and the land we join
and many more to share our old farm fences and views.
We tour as the leaves fall from some trees
and others begin to turn.
We stop for a moment to view the Boston Mountain Range of the Ozarks from our part of the Salem Plateau.  It is a beautiful day to be alive.

Good Farm Fences With Kubota King

Sometimes you see them
sometimes you don't.
 Even without livestock
Hubby maintains the fields
or they would swiftly be taken over by unwanted brush.
Twilight finds him in his Zen moment...
Man and his machine under the evening sky.
Share your fences.

Graduate and Fences

Congratulations, Andrew!

Tonight you graduate from high school and head into real life with a good heart and a strong mind. May your dreams come true and may happiness be yours always.

We are very proud of what you have accomplished.

We look forward to a few days of help fixing fences!

Broken Fence

Grateful I was not working in this spot when the limb fell.  It did stick into the ground so it would have damaged a human.  We were lucky it only damaged the fence.  It also knocked my horseshoes off!  Repaired again (not pictured) with the grass trimmed...just like new/old.

Dam, Heart, River, Fog, Fence

At the base of the Norfork Dam is Norfork River, famous for Rainbow trout fishing.  They have a wonderful area where children can fish but it is a catch and release area.  Why?  There is a fish hatchery right there and I guess they don't want them all caught before the Norfork joins the White River, also famous for Trout fishing, Brown and Rainbow.

It was raining as we came through after Hubby heart check up...yep, he still has one.

I asked him to stop.  I wanted pictures.

In the rain?

I don't care.  I want pictures.
These steps took me to Dry Run Creek.
 to see this
and this in the rain.
The steps back seems much steeper but
if you notice my little orb is with me.
The fog was rolling in but there were people fishing every where.
The minimal flow pipe was running along with two flood gates.
The pictures do not do Norfork River justice.
The beauty was breathtaking.
I kept moving closer and closer to get a good shot.
The fog was winning but I finally got the flood gates.
And I got a rock.  Did that surprise anybody?

This is the power station below the dam.
Sometimes power is generated, but here's the kicker
The power is bought by another state!
The power plant in enclosed with a chain link fence.

Good Fences

The rain sparkled on grass after the storm.
The wind blew hard enough to blow the bark off the post.
The fence still stands.

It Takes All Kinds of Fences...

for all kinds of jobs.  Everyone's sharing their fences with TexWisGirl.  Join the fun.

My fences aren't pretty but they work.  Sadly we have no horses or cattle now so we don't worry so much about fence.  The land still needs bush hogged and fences need to be checked anyway.
Lil has found a hidden water hole under barbed wire.
Look closely and you will see
electric fence surrounds this field.
It seems empty without stock.
Check it out, almost a hundred fences there already.
Join the fun.

I Had A Post Written Last Night...

and saved it somewhere I forgot.  Been talking with TexWisGirl and knew she needed rain.  There are many states that are dry.

Last night I was pushing hard for rain to go west.  This silly poem I've now found is the result of that thought.
WISHING RAIN

'Twas another muddy weekend
I’m not talking to complain
I’m hoping to push it Westward
Cause other states need rain

I’m grateful the ponds are full
Humidity is rising fast
Grateful for the work I do
When sweat runs down my ass
We are such a little state
With crops growing tall
But Rain, don’t miss the other states
That have no rain at all.

Texas to California
and all dryness in between
Are looking for some rain like this
And we are pretty clean

Don’t think I’m ungrateful
I love all creatures great and small
I am grateful for the crops
That grow tall and now fall

I’m grateful
The mower chokes with every step
I’m grateful for mosquitoes
That are generating welts

I’m grateful for the leaking roof
Cause some have no roof at all
Pollination is done
Grass grows as rain falls

So rain move on to Texas
Some states are dry as toast
Push on Westward
to states that need it most

Push the rain to Texas
Where the dirt is dry
Texas to California
Could use this weeping sky

So push on Westward
Hear my cry
States are awaiting
Crops are bone dry

Send them a soaking rain
For now I've enough of this
There’s land out there
That’s grateful when you spit.
Maybe I pushed hard enough.  This one's for you, Theresa!

Blogging...

A subject TexWisGirl covered very well this morning.  I agree with everything she said. Hoping many use the clear directions she provided to execute those changes.

One strong point that hit home for me was scheduling a meme.  I've been waiting for one that I usually do on Sunday...late again.  I know, I know, picky!  These can be scheduled ahead of time...any post can.   So to avoid unnecessary self-induced stress I will not be doing that any more.  I like to write my posts when it moves me not dependant on others for a prompt prompt.  If I lose followers because of that...sorry. That's how my cookie crumbles.

I've never been very good about jumping through hoops for anyone.  So I return to blogging meme-free.

Who knows what might turn up here...Saturdays and Sundays are open.
