a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Been Working

Had neglected my sister's back yard. A crew is coming to repair her roof and build a porch.  I had to hurry up and catch up.  Before...yes, this is the same area.
After...we are ready for the repair and the build.
Another neglected spot...remember, I've been trying to paint the house. We made these steps on a slope between our yards so we would be less likely to slide down. I haven't had time to weed them this year with the wonderful rain and then the blessed heat.  Before....
during and almost after.

We don't have cattle, horses, goats nor chickens now but we still have work.  Keeping the jungles tamed that are our yards keeps me busy.  My weed eater and push mower are broken so all the work that can't be done with a riding mower or tractor is done with hand clippers and pruners. Hubby runs the equipment so I have help.

I have the asparagus bed cleaned and mulched.  Sorted and cleaned the garden shed to put more garden items in storage.  Cleared the weeds from the blackberries.  Have piles of mulch, piles to burn and blisters! When I've nothing else to do I dead head flowers, work in the garden and just do general yard work.  The house is suffering with no deep cleaning but will wait for those triple digit days when I can't force myself outside.  No, the painting is not finished, just on hold, but I'm down to the trim.

A job well done is its own reward.  I do sleep well at night.  Hope your summer has been productive, too.

That's a lot of work to do by hand, but what a difference! I usually squeeze in dead-heading and weeding to and from my car to the front door.

Not nearly as productive as yours, I'm afraid.
Maybe the alligator will keep the weeds down for you. ;-)

I know exactly what you mean, with only dogs and more or less no serious equipment to help, I have been working hard too. But it makes me sleep better than ever and feel sort of proud and happy I can still do stuff. I can see you guys are accmplishing a lot.

Wow what energy! With the heat so bad I have to wait until evening to get any yard work done. We have animals well I should say I have animals as hubby does nothing to take care of them.
Just two dogs and some chickens, love the fresh eggs, then we have some wild rabbits that someone let loose that we do not really like. Need to catch them. Good job on the yard! Looks great!

What a lot of work to do! The before and after picture are quite stunning, what a great difference. That croc looks like the real thing!

Mine has not been nearly as productive as yours. Well done. Not much gets done here after 9 AM. Hope you are inside now, it is 101 here now.

You've been busy! Weeds and bushes do have a way of taking over! It's a hot one today- my husband has been in and out trying to help get a pig washed and loaded to take to a 4her. The county fair will be here before we know it.

Can you give me a little bit of your energy? I really admire all that you've done. I still need to do so much, but sometimes I just lack the energy, and I'm not good at working in the heat.
I first thought the alligator is for real, but I guess it is not...

Wow, you really have been busy! It's just too dang hot to do anything outside here. It's actually the humidity and it's AWFUL this summer. Not that it's ever delightful. Ha!

You are always and inspiration to me! My yard is a lot like yours, and as far as getting it all done, well.. (my hubby is a car man not a yard man) so it's just me! This weekend though is our all family (hubby and myself along with all of children and their children. So there goes more yard to the back of the fire! But four days off my real job is really EXCITING too!
