No one knew
No one really cared
No one missed the jerk
That lived upstairs.

A little girl was missing
They looked every where
The only thing ever found
Was her doll upon his stairs.

He watched children closely
Carried candy in his pocket
Just talked to them mostly
But ended up on the court docket.

I knew the girl
She’s mine you know
I’d seen them talking
Days in a row.

The rules are no body
Criminals can’t be bound
Not guilty the verdict
Upset the town.

I the executioner
Was secretive and bold
The body won’t be found
How beautifully leaves turn old.

Where The Heck Is Gail?

I'm sure you who sometimes spew your morning coffee with my post and become worried if I'm not here..  Sorry I didn't post because I've been playing carpenter.  The last spot in this room to repair and it will be finished today.  I have carpet chosen for its price not it's color.  I had to like it of course but I shopped in the remnants not the sample section.  Then I chose the perfect paint to go with the carpet.

I know y'all have been fooled into thinking I live in a mansion and everything is in tip top shape but it's not true.  I have lots of work to do and sadly, some work I haven't done before.
I live in an old farm house with pieces added on.  Nothing romantically beautiful but it is functional, spacious, paid in full and I love it.  It has history.

These are my preferred tools for demolition but that power saw is wonderful when you're cutting a piece for the jigsaw puzzle that I call the floor.  Last piece is cut and soon will be in place.  Floor solid and steady for years to come. Note I wear safety boots too.

Ready for my strange colors?  Are you sure?  I couldn't wait to start painting so I tried a spot last night.  The lodge has fake paneling unlike the main part of the house which has real wood on the walls.
Here it is...wet and scary.
I thought, Oh, no!  No Trespassing pink!
When I viewed it this morning
I was very pleased.
I didn't know the color name.
I just took the carpet (50 cents a foot)
and matched.
Funny name I chose...Jack Horner Plum
and here is the inexpensive carpet.
Not too shabby for an inexperienced non-carpenter.
I'm kinda proud of myself.
Back to painting.

Rhabdomancy...

Witching is a fascinating art.  Something I've witnessed proven over and over mostly in finding water but also in finding pretty much anything.

I have read a few books since July 2011 when I witched for a cave.  I marked the spot.  Recently I returned.  My stick remained and the hole was larger.  Of course I did not return prepared, I just stopped in Fern Gully when I was on my way to another project.  Just me and dogs, no tools and other work to do.
Lil still swollen from killing a copperhead (Good Dog!) the night before started digging.  Now this is not a varmint tunnel.  This was one spot of two I witched in Fern Gully when I was cave hunting.
After pointing Lil at the small opening she begins to dig.
When digging is involved Ki-Anne and Junior always join in.  I notice this is solid dirt they are digging.  Lil is pulling live tree roots out.  I have nothing with me to help dig and I am kicking myself.  I find a machete in the back of the Ranger and chop vines and briers out of the way.  I even misuse the machete a little and cut some roots and remove some dirt. This was going to be a special project and I had side-tracked to essentials instead of following my dream of finding a cave.  Of course I had excuses this past summer was too hot and too dry to dig anything.
As I leave Lil is as hesitant to abandon her project as I am.  Another day, maybe when we have the proper tools we will return.  I hope.  It's been almost a year and a half since I first witched this spot.  Calling Lil away so she can cool in the creek I'm hoping it's not another year before I return to this spot.

And The Winner Is...

The Canned Quilter from Hickory Holler Farm.  If you haven't visited this fine lady please take a moment to do so.
This super woman can just about do it all.  She has wonderful recipes, tips on growing delicious veggies  and she can even make home made healthy Gummy Worms.  And that's not even the tip of the iceberg.  She quilts and does all kind of hand work when the garden is put to bed for the winter.

Never a dull moment at Hickory Holler Farm.  I am put to shame by the work Mr and Mrs Canned Quilter can get done...and they throw good pups, too.  Baby O has really excelled in her academic, athletic and extra curricular events in her life and makes her parents proud daily.

This family does all this while dealing with some pretty big speed bumps in their life road but never waiver in their faith.

It is a joy to prepare a package for you since you are the WINNER.  Congratulations!

Thanks for being such a faithful follower of my crazy blog. Email your address and I will get that package in the US Mail.

Wonder if I can find that tarantula...
