is good. I fired an email to him a couple of weeks ago, implying I knew my job and did it well. I also stated, rather eloquently that chewing the whole group, instead of the one who messed up, was not the way to run a business. I stated a few other things not so eloquently. I believe the word ass may have been involved.
Well, today he showed up! We had a nice visit, talked about letting bygones be bygones, talked about the unsure future of the post office and of people we had in common. Here is the announcement he sent out to every one after he left my office.
"It was with great honor that I presented today a 35 year service award to Mount Pleasant Postmaster Sheila "Gail" Williams.
Gail began her career as PMR of Guion Arkansas.
Gail transferred to Melbourne as a clerk where she served until transferring to Batesville as a city carrier. Gail worked in Batesville not only as a carrier, but as a clerk performing a multitude of duties to include POA, 204-B, and various other administrative duties.
Gail has served as postmaster in Locust Grove, Brockwell, and eventually winding up in her current assignment as PM of Mt Pleasant in 2005.
Please join me in congratulating Gail in achievement of this noteworthy milestone in her career.
Thanks for your service Gail!"
I didn't mention that it was due last November nor that I really have thirty-seven years. Sometimes, you just have to take what you get and be glad of it.
I did think it was strange that there are multi-colored rays of light beaming down on me!

Oh my, CONGRATULATIONS! You have given so much to the postal system. You serve us well.
As you know, I have a fondness in my heart for Postmasters and a respect for all things postal mail.
Dear Gail - how wonderful! About time some recognition comes your way! You're right. Make do with what you get. WE often have to do that.
I have always admired postal workers. I know it's a hard job and sometimes dangerous.
So congrats!!! Give yourself a little celebration as this is a grand milestone.
Blessings, Barb
Oh Gail, this is classic. I love it and you are right--sometimes we have to take what we can get in these situations. I think the sunbeams are a sign of how great you really are for putting up with him :) LOL
I do not know the many personalities or the politics that you are dealing with on a day to day, but I do know that it is never good to hide your working opinion from your boss/supervisor. You have a good voice for a reason, glad that you chose to use it! It's only fair to everybody concerned that you let the **** hit the fan so to speak? I'm glad that your dedication and hard work has been recognized ... though it be a little off ... it's better a little late than never! Congratulations Gail.
I think you deserve all the technicolor limelight you can get!
=)
Congrats to you! Love the rainbow beams in the photo...the spot light was on you for sure...=)
Congratulations! In this day and age, you are an inspiration! And those beams of light were shining on you from Heaven above to recognize your hard work (point 'em out to your boss, tell him to watch out, you've got some Higher Power on your side!-LOL)
You are so funny! Congratulations!
Congratulations...so you are about 4 hours away from where my Mom was born..Pea Ridge
Well, congratulations are in order whether 35 or 37 years. My FIL worked at the PO here for nearly 40 years, too. I hate to see the demise of the PO. We had one close here but so far the rest of em are okay...
Good job, Gail. Congratulations. I'm very proud of you. Go ahead and bathe in those beams of light, you deserve them. XOX
Sometimes we have to cause a fuss to get noticed !
At least you stated your mind and even got commended for it.
Congratulations, 37 years is a long time !!

Now I must ask one question...how much were stamps when you started your career? Haha!

It always amazes me how bosses suck up to the employees that rip them off the most yet the ones that are reliable only get noticed when when they kick up a fuss or hand in their notice.
Congrats, well done on telling him like it is sometimes people will respect you more if you stand up to them and the facts! Have a great day !
Awe, Congratulations ! I am so happy for you. I love the purple mail box too: ) thank for the picture
Congrats on your 37 years! The rays of light just mean that you SHINE! Yeah, bosses, don't get me started. But yes, at least he acknowledged you and it seems he listened enough to care & come to your office for a chat. That show something.
PS- I'm liking your new mailbox set up!
Well girl here's sendin' ya one of my big old Hillbilly shout outs...
CONGRATULATIONS SHEILA "GAIL" WILLIAMS!!!

Congrats! 37 years is a LONG time I am impressed : )
Congratulations! That's a long time at any job, let alone the postal service. I know it can be a thankless job and people can be quite impatient. The fact you can put up with that speaks volumes.
CONGRATULATIONS!!
The problem is 1,000 "attaaboys(girls)" = 1 "Aw Sh.t!" Isn't it nice to be old enough to not really give a damn?
Good for you! Takes a lot to stand up for yourself. Congrats! That is pretty awesome the rainbow of lights shining on you! Traci
Hehe.
Congratulations, Gail!
Definitely better late then never.
