Portulaca or Moss Rose

Despite the beating from falling rain these heat lovers are surviving.  Portulaca was one of my favorite flowers growing up.  We had a large rock covered with them.  The last died so I am trying again to reestablish this old favorite of mine.  So far, so good.

Portulaca! I haven't seen them in years. I always think they look like something out of a children's book illustration.

Gail
I almost cried when I saw this-My mother always had a huge flowerbed full of these in Missouri where I was raised.
I've tried to grow them in N. Ontario, but they love a hotter, drier climate.
Your moss roses look beautiful in your rock garden.

I hope they do get reestablished. I have always liked them too.
I hope all is well.

So delicate. What a site it must have been to see a blanket of them over rocks.

Let them go to seed in the fall and they will provide you with many seedlings come spring:)

I love moss roses. They take me back to my childhood. I think it's the first flower I ever grew all by myself. :)

Very pretty. These are my Mom's favorite plant. We've had buckets of rain here in
Louisiana, but my tomatoes & flowers are glorious and my blueberries are magnificent. xo
