we always called them water bugs, now i know they can be striders or skaters... great shot to capture them as small as they are...
Great shots of the striders. I have seen them here on the water. Enjoy your day!
Gail, I've always been fascinated by these little critters, watching them skid across the water.
they're so cool.
I have seen them here. Fascinating, aren't they.Lynne x
It is amazing that the females have figured out how to deter aggressive males. You go, girl!
We always called them water skippers. There's a new name for you.
Surface tension! It was difficult to explain to the young that 'you sink' and 'they float' without safety gear!Hank
These water bugs have always fascinated me.
They are so cool!
When I lived in SC we had a little fish pond. I love watching the skaters on it... as well as the other water bugs that were part of the pond.
Many years ago humans walked on water too!Great picture!
And they show up on any standing water. Fun to watch whether one or hundreds. We always called them water striders, too. :-)
Great photo "catch!"
As a child, they always fascinated me. I could watch them for hours.=)
