The Great Escape

Walking the New Ground I found a spider tunnel
bejeweled with dew.
The spider had a guest.
I watched as the grasshopper crawled toward the top
expecting the owner of the web to scramble out to catch its breakfast.
This one got away!

kind of like beauty and the beast and the beast did not come out to eat.. lucky grasshopper. I love the web itself, just not the owner. LOL...

I bet there's not many who do that!
You're right, Cricket does grow with every photo.

You have a gift of seeing the things that many do not see or just miss seeing. I appreciate you taking the time to share them. Beautiful captures. Peace.

I'm glad the poor grasshopper got away. That is a neat web.

Such a beautifully set trap! I'm sure the next investigator won't be quite so lucky!

The grasshopper is camouflaged so well! From humans, that is. The spider will use other senses, like tension on the web. Oh MY!! A web in front of a tunnel!! Both a spinner and a tunneler must be an awful sight to behold.

I love the Disney version of nature where the prey lives another day.

Glad to hear it got away!

Right now we have spider webs absolutely everywhere. (And I do mean everywhere). They're fun photographing, especially after a rain, but I don't like how they're choking all our plants. (And the grass... and my dogs when they go out... and MY HEAD each time I step on the porch. Lol!)

The early grasshopper gets away before the spider is warm enough to catch it. ^_^

You all have a blessed week, Gail.

In the fall the spiders here have grown quite large.....I undisturb nests that are not in my way. The birds have a feast and all is gone. I clean up empty nests and next spring they reappear. Kool shots Gail.
