Just a skip and a hop down the road is Barren Fork Creek. This was my lunch break today. I think you'll agree, it was worth the trip.
The day was perfect.
It was a sweater day, nothing else needed, well,
except for pants and shoes and such,
but no coat.
Driving down a gravel road,
you cross a concrete low water bridge.
The water tumbles through on normal days,
on flood days, it is impassible.
Even away from work, I worked.
The culverts on one side were blocked.
I removed branches and logs to help the water flow.
I caused the water to foam.
Sad, that even on a break,
I just keep on working!
The creek had worked its magic.
I returned to work, muddy, but refeshed....
and there were people waiting for me to open.

Well worth the trip!
we all need a runaway day sometimes.... mine is in the city!
I wouldn't call that work. What a cool place.
Sounds like a perfect interlude!
My hubby used to go sit in his pick-up truck at lunch just to 'get away' - because, if he didn't he would be pestered by someone for something. Glad you had a chance to really take a break and enjoy such lovely surroundings. Thanks for sharing it all with us.
sounds like a great way to take a break! (you need to load your photos in a larger format! they deserve to be seen w/o clicking on them!)
I think that was a lovely way to spend a lunch hour. I always like cleaning out creeks. I love when the water rushes back on its way. I know it is only my imagination but I always think the creek sighs a big sigh of relief.
A wonderful escape ! Awesome post and photos. I bet that helped break your day up ! Have a good day !
I love that you cared enough to do that, Gail. And I love what Farm Girl said, too, about the creek sighing a big sigh of relief afterward.
=)

At least away from the job you enjoyed the work! I used to live behind my business and had people knocking on my doors late at night even! I feel your pain!
I would not have blamed you if you had stayed there for the rest of the day. ♥
Workaholic maybe??? Heeheehhee!!!
You had a wonderful spot for your lunch break. So glad ya locked the door!
God bless ya sweetie and have a wonderful weekend!!! :o)
I would have done exactly what you did at lunch. Talk about a Zen moment.
You should lock up the door behind you more often and go sit by that creek. You could be the keeper of the creek and keep it flowing. Not that I recommend this on wintry days. You did good!
Good decision to lock up and leave for a nice break. The sound of the water running over rocks in a stream is one of most favorite sounds to relax by. I could sit for hours and hours just listening to the peaceful sound.
Blessings

What great lunch!! There's nothing like water and little to feel refreshed again. :)
It looks warm there..you should run away at lunch more often:)
What a nice lunch time break! Pretty spot! I'm sure you felt refreshed, if not a little muddy, when you got back to work. Hopefully the break recharged you and your afternoon flew by swiftly!
Sounds like a great little getaway! Take time to smell the roses, as they say! That second photo is just awesome!
It was well worth it--even if you did work...at least it was work you chose to do instead of work you had to do.
Nice!...:)JP
Great way to spend lunch! So pretty and just looking at the pictures is soothing!
