House At Dusk by Edward Hopper
After building the house he sought the perfect mate to match. Next the two perfect children arrived exactly two years apart.
Oh, the secrets those curtains and dark windows covered. To the community Jack was a fine upstanding businessman, but to his family, only paraded on special occasions as if they were prize acquisitions, he was a different man.
Jack had many secrets.
The perfect family huddled in the deep dark corners of the house that could never be called a home.
Tonight Jack was content viewing his other trophies people never saw.

Interesting tale . . . I wonder how often that is the truth?
How creepy. It's true that no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors. Our house was the same.
I so 'get' this.
Menace behind the scenes...
A house dripping with dark secrets and controlling husband/father figure. The name Jack seems far too friendly, unless of course he was known as 'The Ripper', then what would those trophies be? An interesting take on this prompt.
I call it "the list."
There's a list of things you have to have in life, and some of them are people, and they don't really matter, just that they get check marked on the list!!
neither good nor bad
OK, now I'm curious!!
shivers...this def has a creepiness to it....jack sounds like he could be rather sinister....
This happens way more than some would like to admit... unfortunatly. You were straight to the point and you did it very well!
Keep going I want more ! Awesome ! You could write a book girl . Have a good evening !
Your secretive world is a sad reality for too many people. Living a pretentious life fools no one and hurts many. Thank you for this walk through the shadows, Gail. Very insightful. =D
People can be trophies that are never properly loved. I wonder in what other ways Jack profited of his trophies? It sure is a darkly psychological story. Disturbing even. Good job!
This dark piece conjures up images. Gotta know more...

So true. Many people hide behind images, and lead different lives behind closed doors. This is a good one!
A bit of a chill falls with your perfect words.
Disturbing! Well done. You really set a mood here.
=)
You know that old saying "Behind Clsoed Doors" - nice one Gail - could be quite chilling Stephen Jr.
Sadly there are many Jacks out there...thought-provoking take...
Yes, houses can hide many secrets....great writing Gail! :-)
