He was a dog when I met him
With kindness in his eyes
With love in his heart
With gratefulness
He was a dog when I met him
With no place to go
With no place to lay his head
With no safe place
He was a dog when I met him
Now a happy dog
Now in a safe place
Now grateful and I'm still a softy for dogs
A terrible attempt to rise to the challenge at dVerse~Poets Pub Anaphora challenge.

I thought it was a great attempt. You took in a stray and gave him a home.
ha. i am a bit of a softy as well for the pups....and its pretty amazing how the demeanor will change when they are given a bit of love....smiles...
I was just thinking this might be in reference to any of the dogs you adopted or animals about your farm which give you the same feeling. I loved this poem and smiled while reading it.
Love dogs & your poem about one of them! I understand you being a softie for them. I am too. Smiles.
Good attempt!!
I Like it. B
actually this one makes perfect sense to me, most poetry i have no idea what it means, this one i do and i like it.
but so full of heart and who you are. :)
A happy dog is great :-)
I think this is adorable. I have a dog just like you do. No one wanted her and she's happy now.
Have a terrific day. ☺
He was a dog when I met him, and now he's a member of my family!
You did a great job!
Good attempt! :) That picture is just TOO funny! ;)
This isn't terrible at all; you've made really good use of anaphora both at the start of your lines and within them. I really enjoyed reading it, and I find those puppy eyes hard to resist too ... smiles
You know, Gail, for me anything with a dog is a work of art and I see this as a happy, effective use of the prompt. And the photo is too cute.
I love your feeling for animals, and it comes through very strongly here.
Which makes it a good poem.
=)
I think it was a great attempt, Gail. I enjoyed it.
Have a great weekend! :-)
Lol. The worst photo I have ever seen
No, not terrible at all. Kudos for the poem and for making a home for your dog. :o)
I loved this... you're letting that marshmallow heart show! I can imagine that a good number of critters owe their lives and wellbeing to your generosity and care. And how good it feels when we are able to help those who ask so little of us and give so much love in return. This was a great piece of writing, loved the form!
Not terrible at all! This reminds me of how we met our "Munchie" dog three years ago!
