Goodbye To The Princess...

Marcy was sad to say goodbye to her little Princess but she said it was time for her to be a goat, a real goat.  One that has goat friends and goat family.  I am delighted she made this decision.
I don't think she would have parted with her bottle fed house baby if it had been anyone besides Sam that took her.  This goat was so spoiled as a bottle baby, she would bleat when it was time for soap operas.  Marcy kept her in a dog crate in her house during the evenings.  Then Princess grew and grew and grew, so outside she went.
Sam is a horse trainer but this goat pulled her over!  Not hurt, but laughing.  Princess was trying to see what she could get away with.
Sam and Princess worked it all out.  Princess hopped right into the goat cage.  I am thinking she will become a milk goat.  Sam has a mixed herd and does well with her goats.

Princess was one of triplets and Mama just said two is enough so that's how it started.  Marcy was sad but I think somewhat relieved.  No going out to feed Princess this winter!

As Sam prepared to leave with two kittens and a goat, Marcy said, take a picture of her babies for me.

I did wait until I got inside before I did my happy dance!

Princess, The Innocent

Why would I eat a rose?
Rolling in Clover,
TP is going to be in charge.
I said, No more roses.
Just try and get one!

Once Upon A Time...

in a far away land, a prince was held captive by a narly old witch called Nana.   She would not let the prince venture into the great outdoors and he spent many hours trying to break out of his glass prison.

The evil witch laughed at the prince because he could see outside but he could not venture there, no, it was not allowed for his safety she said as she cackled.

Then the Princess At The Farm arrived and was very sad that the prince was locked up behind glass and could not run and play like other little boys.  She wondered what could she do?

So Princess waved her magic horns and made the evil witch disappear.  She broke the glass tower down and rescued the tiny prince.

Escape is sweet, said the prince.

Now the Prince and Princess run through the open valley, loving the freedom and smelling the flowers.

And the prince and princess lived happily ever after At The Farm.

Back To The Doctor

I cannot seem to kick this infection! My foot is better, now my left knee has it. I have new antibiotics and new salve.

I am going to climb on my doctor like Princess on this car if things do not get better soon!

Looking...

At each other...who's the boss?

What do I see? Must be feeding time.
Seymour says, I'll keep the cows away
. Yep! It's must be feeding time.

Princess doesn't miss a feed.
Charme says, get back and let me eat, guys.
Everyone is looking for something.

Princess

Princess following the dozer tracks.

A Pinto Goat??

Princess found out who hauls the feed.
How can ONE goat get into so much?

And There Was Ice, Ice, Ice

Andrew reintroduced himself to the outdoors. Out of school for a week, he read, played guitar and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows in Aunt Marcy's fireplace.
A natural disaster also holds its own beauty.

Princess was not concerned nor did she loose any weight.

The cats sought the sunshine.

The horses seemed small in this world of ice.

Princess, Attitude and Culinary Wonders

I have been ignoring Princess lately. She spoke with me quietly and wondered if I was avoiding her. I said yes, you vex me. But I love you, she says, almost as much as Mamma Marcy. Princess, you must improve your food choices or I fear for your life (Barbecue comes to mind here!) You must NOT eat any wiring, such as the wiring to the mule battery or the entire light wiring system under Uncle Den's truck. You cannot gleefully jump from bed to seat in the Mule or Ranger. Your hooves are so sharp they cut the seats. I do realize you clear out the loose ends quite nicely with your ever working teeth but we must have some boundaries. I know the Kubota is a lovely orange and looks like a child's jungle gym but that is off limits too. I have noticed a wire hanging from the front of my car, have you been there too?
From this point on, stay away from all things with wiring!

...or there could be dire consequences!

Many of you have been so kind to share culinary delights and recipes. I have decided to contribute a little in that department. This is easy to make and I can guarantee you have NEVER tasted anything like this before.

Five cups deer broth(saved from roast)

One half cup of crackers, salted white

A handful of Aged Bouillon cubes, flavor of your choice

One half cup of pancake mix, unknown age or origin

One cup of mealy bug cornmeal mix

Two hardened hamburger buns, torn into spoon size pieces

Cheerios and Soup

Two slices of cooked turnips.

Now here is the tricky part, all this must be stirred and cooked slowly to thicken. Ah, you can smell it in the air! When this has reached the thickness of your desire. Add Dog Food to taste and serve those freezing outside dogs. They will love you for it!

I Am Back!!!!!!!!!

Marcy Art

I am sure you have been biting your nails and sitting on pins and needles waiting for me to get over it. That is my Motto, Get Over It! But for some unfortunate reason I could not. I was lower than a snake's belly, I mean underground!

Thanks to all my blogland Buddies, I have survived and am on the way to the top! Funny isn't it, how you can be kissing dirt one minute and flying among the trees the next. It wasn't that easy but from this good side, it seems that way. From the bottom, I could not see the sky.
Thanks everybody for not ignoring my whining. Thanks for all the good kind words. Most of all, thank you for letting me know I was not alone.

First step was taking a shower and painting my fingernails. Funny how showers don't seem so important. In the afternoon, I ventured out into the lovely warm afternoon in a clean pair of pjs and my painted nails.

Guess who would not leave me alone? Princess, that wonderful goat, that belongs to my sister. I think okay, I've had my shower so I no longer smell like a billy goat. I do not know if she was attracted to wonderful Bath & Body Works lotion or if she was just glad to see me. She circled all around me, rubbing her horns on me, bleating and just having a good time. I escaped into the house and she was at the door, at the window, bleating to me! I grabbed the bb gun and thought that might persuade her to go home...NO! Princess wanted me for some reason. By this time I am regretting my shower. My husband saves me with the paint ball gun. Princess is now brown, yellow, orange and white. Looks quite artsy and seems to know it.
The Paint is on the other side.

Marcy with Buddy, TP and of course, Princess

Today was much better. Den had been building fence on the west side and had asked me yesterday to come see. He knew better than asking me to come help. Today Marcy and I headed up the hill, behind the new pond, to see the wondrous work of THE MAN!

As you can see, I am really helping. It was cold on that hill!

The cold did not stop Seymour from running down the creek.

After that freezing trip, I came back and started to work. The Christmas tree and Santas are all tucked away. The kitchen was clean until Den cooked. Sent(bribed) my daughter's mate and Andrew to go pick up my groceries. Did ALL the laundry. Changed my sheets and even had time to watch a movie!!!! Even repainted my nails...how's that for recovery?

Work tomorrow and I am actually not dreading it.

Thanks to all you guys who dug me out when I needed more shovels than I could find!

My camera, God's art.

Princess Is The Only Goat...

and I believe I can safely say there will be no more. Remember the old saying, no such thing as a free animal! Princess is half Boer and something else. She is small because she was the third of triplets. Her mamma said two is all I want. Since her siblings were twice the size of Princess the owner started bottle feeding. Then he graciously gave the goat and the bottle to Marcy. The baby bottle he was using said "I'm a little Princess" thus her name.
This goat is every where! She has a chainlink fence six feet tall...she climbs out. Wish I hadn't brought her home to my sister, wish we didn't have her. We cannot eat her so I will just keep complaining. Princess guards the yard with the dogs, runs the cats from their food, and plays chase. If it is there, she will climb it. What can I do? Look at that face.

Another Day, Another Dollar

This was something I heard my Dad say a lot. I sometime feel it applies to today's finances as well as the Great Depression.
Getting ready to go to work this time of year is very hard for me. I want to stay home and stay outside. I love this weather.
We have certainly had plenty of rain this year but September has been dry. We have been busy getting the last cutting of hay in the barn. Also keep trying to get windfall cleaned up and normal maintenance. I love it all but never seems to be enough hours in the day.
The animals are feeling the fall in the air. Everyone is more active and a tad more ornery. The weather does that to me too!
The end of the garden is close. My sister had been canning everything she can get her hands on. Even Princess is enjoying the garden.
