a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

This N That

Many of you know that since October '09 I have worked six days a week.  The postal service has listened to my suggestion of reducing over time and after sixteen months, I have Saturdays off, except next Saturday.
We are very short handed and many people are running offices by themselves.  It is almost an act of Congress to get a day off.  It takes very careful planning with much advance notice.  I finally was able to arrange a few days.  Thursday and Friday of last week and Monday and Tuesday of this week were my available days. This allowed me six days in a row...off, away from the public, enjoying my down time...you think?

I cleaned, I sorted, I organized, I slept and slept.  I spent one hour decorating a card board box for my can recycling bin.  Of course, you know I went to Wal Mart. Took a few walks, played with the animals, visited with all my company, and tried, in vain, to hide.
Since part of my time off included spring break, there was much exploring, football, basketball and baseball,
rock concerts in messy rooms,
and much outside running.
...and I wonder why I do not feel rested!!

You are much too busy on your days off. I hope that some of these activities were enjoyable and that it wasn't all drudgery.

Don't you know, Gail, that whenever you take a vacation, you always have to go back to work to get rested? ;)

Hope today treats you well!

Yup you need a vacation from your vacation lol . I used to be like that when I worked and the kids were younger. Sounds like some of your time off was good. Have a great day !

Days off seem to be like that and I think it is designed that way. Why else would you go back to work :)

We all know that a day off from work means a catch up day on the farm. We loaded out cattle after dark last night...sometimes ya just run outta light!

God bless and have a wonderful day!!!

Woohoo for Saturdays!!!

Loved the photos of your grandsons - handsome boys. Good for you getting some time off - even if it was busy. Sounds like it was a wonderful time doing boy type stuff. Bet they enjoyed their time with grandma too.

I kept trying to comment and things kept going wrong...but it's ok now! Anyway, I'm glad you at least got to be busy at home and not at the post office!

I never seem to feel rested after a vacation, but a change of scenery/activity still seems to do me good. At the very least, it makes me glad to return to whatever it is I've left behind.

Oh my gosh, does this post bring back memories of my working days! It's been awhile and I had almost forgotten...
I think I need to go lay down just remembering! lol
One day, Gail, it will all be over. They will all be grown and there will just be you and hubby at the breakfast table...and one of you will say..(probably you..) "HOW on earth did we ever find time to work??"

It's called life.. :)
Hugs and love,

Days off aren't particularly meant for resting - but for reviving. Did you feel revived? Refreshed? Maybe not so much?

I'm glad you got some time off. Even if you don't feel rested, I'm sure mentally it was a good thing.
