a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Something's In The Garden...

Strange scratches by the creek...
could it be ole Three Toes walking the valley again?
The Borders are sniffing the garden,
they know a strange animal has been here.
The smell remained,
but the strange critter was gone.

Well, if they were claw marks, I might think fox or skunk or some such.

But my bifocals are a bit scratched and I'm not quite sure.
It's a cinch that whatever it was, isn't telling. ;)

Hope you all have a great day, Gail!

We get a lot of Raccoons digging and scratching for grubs in our gardens and lawn drives Miggy nuts at nigh cause she can either hear them or smell them through the open windows but they are nasty and can do much harm to even the biggest toughest dog so we just tell her no ! We caught one small one in the cage trap a couple of days ago Papa drove him miles away and released him ! Nice photos. Have a wonderful day !

Be careful out there with strange critters Gail! I heard yesterday there have been several cases of skunks with rabies in Arkansas this year already. We saw a skunk in our neighborhood coming home from church last night and we've never seen one here before - I wonder if there was a big crop of babies this year! blessings, marlene

Do you think it is a skunk? I notice those marks out in my garden too.
I have wondered what they are for sure. What about a possum or a raccoon.
I hope you find out for sure too. Well, just not to close.

Don't you wish that someone could create a tool that would allow us to visualize what message a dog gets from what he/she is smelling?
As for 'three toes'... have the alligators moved that far north?!

I hope it's something as simple as a possum looking for grubs and not a three toed wolf looking for chickens. Don't you have your web cam up anymore?

Maybe it's better the dogs don't find it. All the woodland creatures are more hungry and agressive this time of year.
