Many of you have heard me brag of Andrew's two year journey of music. No teachers, only hard work. He watches videos, watches the hands, hears the music and plays it. He has approached this with a tenacity that made us proud. (He shows the same devotion to foot ball.) His music window was open and the music poured in.
Recently at school they had a talent show and Andrew signed up. He practiced until our heads were echoing with the strains of electric guitar and Marshall amps
.
Andrew has been jamming with some folks his mom and aunt's age. Had the pleasure of playing a Gibson SG (which this family cannot afford). Gibson SG created a confidant musically driven young man.
He waited nervously with the other competitors.
The talent was great and varied.
Dancers, singers, musicians of all ages through out the high school had signed up.
Time at last to set up.
His adult friend allowed him to use his Gibson SG.
Andrew warmed the audience with a few blues licks of his own,
then jumped into "You Shook Me All Night Long"
He Rocked The House!!!
His love of music was apparent.
his skills won the crowd,
and the musical Andrew wowed the audience.
Andrew was moving so fast, it was hard to get a picture.
As the crowd, teachers and students alike, gave a standing ovation, it was amazing. To know Andrew was good, not just because his family thought so but because the entire school, students and teachers, also thought he was good.
The teachers were in awe...is this the Andrew that sits quietly in class and never causes a bit of trouble?
The students voted for their favorite of all the good talent that was there. At the end of the day, Andrew had won!
Talk about a confidence builder!
Andrew's face book friends have multiplied.
Now they know another side of Andrew...the wild side.
There is the quiet student,
the foot ball player,
and now a rock star!!
Wonder if it's gonna run in the family.
