a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

It's Monday...

and it's not wash day nor grocery day but sewing day and a holiday for me!  I am happily clipping and ripping away on Hubby's old work shirts.  He no longer holds the title embroidered so nicely on these shirts and he no longer works for the business so the shirts are mine...MINE, I say.
Plain, solid colors chosen by a plain, solid man who was good great at his job for years.  In political appointments when the lead dog changes, some of the team are replaced as was Hubby.  Through the years, Hubby performed many heroic acts although he would not say that, finding lost children, rescuing people, recovering people and helping the entire county run smoothly during disasters and during the good times.

So today, I am finishing a quilt I began some time ago.  It will be for Hubby and his magic sleeping chair...you know, the chair that reclines and automatically puts the reclinee to sleep.
I sew happily on my old electric machine, have more trouble threading the needle than I used to but I can still get the job done.
Noticing the pile of jeans waiting for me to repurpose, knowing I will make yard quilts and totes and maybe a pillow or two, but that will be for another day.
Winter weather brings out the Suzie Home Maker in me and so I sew. This day may your stitches be strong, your tension just right and may you always be able to see the eye of the needle.

How wonderful that you are doing that for the "reclinee". I'm sure he will be pleased.
Yep, Suzie homemaker here as well. I always get house jobs done and feel so good about them in January. Happy stitching to you too sweet lady. Oma Linda

What a perfect gift for him...all those memories and a warm, fuzzy quilt, too!

(Are you putting a minky on the back, or is that cheating?)

=)

Awesome quilt. He will enjoy it.

My machine is 37 years old and has many miles on it. If it weren't a New Home it might not still be chugging along.

I really enjoyed your post.

My sewing machine has some fancy stitches, but I am clueless how to use them.
It even does button holes, but I can't.
Once we retire, maybe I can find someone to show me how to use it. ;)

I think that is a wonderful quilt!

what's the writing on the squares? I made one quilt, and unlikely going to make another.

I was going to ask that question and you answered it right before I wrote it!

The quilt is such a great idea, but I'm somewhat confused about the chair. My hubby has one of those magic chairs, too, but he claims he is never, ever asleep - despite the loud snortly noises that come from that side of the room. Nope... I'm not asleep, why do you ask?!!

That's a wonderful quilt you're making. I do admire your skill and patience. I hope Den appreciates it and that he will rest comfortably beneath it. XOX

I did a little sewing today also, not much, just added about a 6" hem to the "scooby-do" pajama pants my daughter bought for her daddy a few years back. He claims he doesn't wear 'em because they are too short. So, I grabbed a t-shirt in a matching color and tah-dah! I love quick jobs like that that I can actually finish. Good for you for taking the time to do something you enjoy!

I can't read my comments...when you click on yours does it take you to a blank page..or do your comments come up? Three days now...and I cannot read my comments
:(
oh..and not being able to "see the eye of the needle" is another thing!!
