a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Sunday, My Day of Rest...

yep, sure was restful!  I woke with a bee in my bonnet and proceeded to direct the troops.  You know the troops I'm talking about, the ones who game or computer or tv or snooze in their chair all day...those troops.

I was tired of waiting on Someone Who Does Not Work to get it done!  I thought they might learn by example. I heard an expression used the other night related to hoarding...can't remember the expression but it was the inability to see the mess.  Both males in my home are suffering from this horrible malady...just can't see it.  Boy, oh, boy, I'm not blind just only so much of me to go around!

Yep, I'm not blind and I found out today, they are not deaf!  They heard, they listened, they worked as they wondered, I'm sure, who took the gentle Gail and replaced her with a slave driver.

They both had this shocked expression when I declared, "We are not living like pigs, anymore."  I proceeded with small lines; you drop it, you pick it up, you spill it, you clean it up.  They stood like zombies with a full belly...with a terrible blank look on their face.

We, now, have almost all the laundry done...except they have to put theirs away.  Took one truck load...a bed, a table, a big box and an antique baby chicken warmer, to the shop.  While we were out, we did grocery shopping, with every one's input...and every one unloading and putting away.

Hubbs was so scared (right!) he was hauling things out of the yard to the bone yard where they belong.  Andrew wasn't near as scared but he hasn't lived with me as long.

I have a box full of socks and shorts no one wears that will be a fine free gift to some one who has none.  I have a full trash can, a broken sewing machine needle and a hurt back but, by golly, they listened and they worked.

The sad thing is, I kinda like this so I'm not through with them yet!  As Mom used to say, Things are gonna change around here!

I grew tired of waiting for someone to fix the window sill in the bathroom...that is now sitting with it's second coat of paint after being scrapped, caulked and dried...that was my job, I gave up on every one else.

I may, just maybe, if they're nice, give them the rest of the afternoon off.  Don't want to shock their systems too badly.

Post note: 6PM Sunday...Hubb's napping, Andrew's playing guitar, fresh stir fry on the stove and I am hitting my soft chair.  We have earned our rest.

When everyone works together, things happen.

It's true about people not seeing their messes.

We did a lot of sorting and packing yesterday, too.

And yeah, most men can never see the mess.
Or don't care. :/

Have a good Sunday, Gail!

Good for you putting your foot down I would of done the same. I am lucky though Papa often cleans up after him self there are times he forgets and thats when I step in and ask him what his slave died of, then I reply for him with probably to much work, he gets the hint and then does it ! I cant stand mess I clean as I go whether it be in the kitchen, bathroom or any where else thats just how my mum raised me ! Hope they get the hint and help it should all be team work not just one doing it all ! Have a good day !

*chuckles* I can just see it! Oh, and their faces - those eyes, wide open in surprise! Yup!

I think the male brain doesn't see the things we see. They don't notice the mess (well, unless they were long-term military trained). I could wait until the cows come home for my hubby to do some things... yeah, I guess I'm still waiting. Cows haven't come home. Come to think of it, since we don't have any cows, not too likely that they will! Eventually I'll treat him like the horse; I'll hint. Then I'll ask. Then I'll tell... then, I'll have to put my foot down and demand!

Good for you. Sounds like you had a great day and accomplished a lot of those things on the ' This had been bugging me forever' list!

Way to go Sarge!!!!

Somebody's gotta whip those bad boys into shape every now and again or we might as well put "slave" as our prefix.

You go girl!!!

God bless and have an extraordinary week sweetie!!! :o)

Grinning!!! We know what your last slave died of - he is still living and slaving very hard. (Bigger grin). We are still in the process of packing for the big move in the spring. Four piles - pack to move, garbage, recycling, and stuff for the Sally Ann. It's surprising how much junk can accumulate in a short time.Oh,oh - I think I hear my slave driver yelling - gotta run.. ATB!

I watch Hoarders to make myself feel better.

Today I washed the dishes, which incidentally, I also washed last night. Then I had the treat of washing the baked on egg white and bacon grease off the stove top after I'd washed the stove after cooking last night. I especially appreciated the baked on egg white. After I was done with that, I tackled the bathroom where I cleaned long hair off every surface...not mine. And hairspray or other product that goes everywhere and adheres like glue. A real treat I tell ya.

Now it's time for me to shower and get ready to go to my work that pays me for such labor.

That's always such a satisfying feeling. Work is a blessing we don't always appreciate.

They must have been shocked when you came down on them so hard suddenly. They probably stood there quaking in their boots. You don't know what a force an angry woman is to reckon with. They must have been highly uncomfortable. I'm glad I wasn't there. Lol

Honey I'm past that stage now. I meet my husband at the door with a sign that says "Wife on Strike"

I no longer pick up after him. There is a mountain of socks on the floor on his side of the bed. I guess when he runs out of clean ones he will then pick them up and wash them too.

I will no longer close doors and drawers or shut of lights or water behind him. When our light bill doubles he can pay it. same with the water bill.

This chick is done lecturing. ~Ames
