a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Diamond Lil

Any stick will do
Lil's search for a stick is border line/Border Collie OCD.
Getting up in years, Lil, a short haired Border Collie is our oldest dog on the farm team.  She's a great stock dog, a snake dog and a stick dog.  She also has a love of food.  She dines after the cats at Marcy's at three AM  then lets the chickens eat what she deems is enough then she lays on the rest of the food until the chickens give up.  Then Lil eats, casually, and in good amounts.  She no longer maintains her girlish figure.

She never turns down a game of stick.
Throw it!  I got it!
Don't blame us, we throw what she brings if we can.
But there are always helpers...
and those who taunt
All want the stick Lil chooses
Come on, old lady, I've got  your stick!
but Lil doesn't play that game.
I know she's thinking, Why in the world did I ever teach them stick?  But like the good teacher she is, Lil patiently waits.  Young ones change games quickly.  Darn pup!

I love them all, your doggies are all so cute. I miss my Goldie Girl, she liked playing with sticks too. Have a great Friday and a happy weekend!

I love it - seems to me when the pups get bored, Lil will get the stick. ha,ha She is wise and kind to let them play with her stick. My Jack loves to chase my practice golf balls. She stands back a fair pace and I hit it into the air and off she goes and returns it to me everytime. Too cute and way fun :)

Aww, she is a good girl not to fight over the stick...I can see her laying on top of the chicken feed when she thinks it is her turn. Border collies are so smart.

Such a delightful post today. Those babies do have their personalities don't they. My two dogs are so funny sometimes. And there are 10 years between them. Love that Lil.

What a great post Gail. Great photos and a great story. Lil has earned the right to be whatever size she likes. ;-)
God bless. ♥

Older dogs are so much more patient than younger dogs. Lil will teach all the other dogs this when she picks up that stick after they're done playing with it.

I love your Bonnie pictures in your most recent post ... but I love these pictures too.

Dogs ... they each have their own character and that is so good to see.

Thanks for sharing pictures of your 'farm team' with your readers

All the best Jan

Gotta love those darn pups, and all their glory! I'm thinking (and pretty darn sure that mama that's you) gives Lil her own special only little treat now and then for being such a good sport. Oh yeah!
