a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

How Long

does
it take
a
caterpillar
 to cross a rock?
Much longer than I ever dreamed.

These are really nice shots! I once watched a caterpillar crawl all the way up to the top of my bird bath, take a few sips of water, and then crawl all the way back down. It was one of the most interesting things I'd ever seen!

I too have watched them in the yard. I watched one, one evening as the sun was setting, crawl up the clothesline pole, get to the top and when the sun set, it crawled back down. I guess the caterpillar wanted to watch the sun set, as I did....:)

It's not only at a snail's pace but at a caterpillar's pace, too!

Perhaps it was warming up since the rock was in the sun. You know, not everything handles rocks like you do!!...:)JP

They really are not driven by an inner clock to rush around like we are. They seem to appreciate their time, short though it may be.
