a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

I Tried To Shoot The Moon...

as the geese, flying south, called to me in the early night.  The amazing V formation as they crossed the moon had me wishing I could capture the beauty and the sound of their flight. Only in my mind, did I capture it, tucking the memory away to bring out, like a good book, and revisit the wonder of it.

The coyotes were active last night and their voices echoed through the leafless trees as they pursued their night's meal. I heard them run along the cedar glade where deer were grazing earlier.  As I called my husband to hear their song, they grew silent.  I continued to listen, in the cold night, and imagined their path.  As they picked up their prey trail again, they sang to the night, crossing the creek and following the old road up the hill...and then silence.  The silence left me wondering, were they successful in their hunt or did they search for another main course.

While listening, I was warm and lost in the moment but as the night sounds left, the cold crept in.  I returned to the warmth and shut the door on the night.

I really like the moon framed by the bare tree and your narrative is wonderful; I could almost hear the coyotes.
Hope your week goes well.

You did more than try baby. I'd say ya shot that moon right on target! It's a beautiful picture.

As I type Tiger the Wonder Dog is pitchin' a fit and a half. There is a big old wolf (Texas Red I believe) messin' around the workin' pens behind the house.

God bless you sweetie and have a beautiful day!!!

Great photo and even better the description of what you were feeling :)

I don't care much for coyotes.

Happy Holidays!

The moon photo is fantastic!

Coyotes are becoming a problem in some of our local foothill areas. Not only do they knock over trash cans but lately they have been killing some small pets. I guess coyotes do what coyotes do...eat, kill and reproduce.

Gail, I hope you and your family have a Wonderful Christmas :-)

Lovely photo. :)

The coyotes are patrolling this area, as they always do in winter. It makes Bad Dog pretty crazy. I lock him up at night because I fear for his safety. Even though he's 100+ pounds, he's kind of a softy.

Popped over to wish you a very Merry Christmas. Hope you have a great week of holiday fun!

nice pic. one of my kids did a project on coyotes once. they each have their own distinctive call and the others can tell who the individuals are and where they are.

Great photo, Gail.

I think there is supposed to be a lunar eclipse tonight, or very early in the morning tomorrow, depending on where you live and weather permitting.

*Hugs*

Have a blessed week! ♥

Beautiful shot and a wonderful post. I felt like I was on your porch listening with you.

The coyotes here were very active and yipping away early this morning. I heard them first thing when I got up.

Trying very hard to stay awake to see some of the lunar eclipse tonight.
