Jake's free horse, Johnny, is thrivingl. Johnny's hooves have been trimmed and he did very well. Have found out the lineage is Thoroughbred and Paint. Although a stallion, Johnny demonstrates no bad characterisics.
They are blending into a wonderful team.
My walls are empty, my paintings are displayed in the shop. Bev oohs and ahhs, and calls it art. I call it canvas and paint. The afternoon was spent putting pieces of shelving units together and creating display areas out of the pieces that fit nothing. Progress is being made...thanks to Bev. We hope to open for a sale the week of City Wide Yard Sale. As we thin generations of accumulated STUFF, we will work toward making the shop what Toni has planned...we really don't know what that will be yet.
Although there is no school today, Andrew has foot ball practice so I am up early to wake the men in time to go. They had their first game this past week...and won. I was unable to go...working and it was a two hour drive. According to Andrew, and he assures me the coaches said it first, if he had not intercepted, we would have lost the game.
The weather has taken a turn here. The leaves are falling, either from drought or because it's time. I had windows open, the first time in a very long time and I was looking for an afghan!!! It is nice to be cool instead of too hot.
The horses and cows are grazing contently. Although we have been dry, we have had enough moisture to maintain the pastures. Many farmers have had no second cutting of hay this year...and we are lucky for the first. Some states have no grass at all with livestock starving.
I have no idea what's on my plate for today. Whatever it is, I hope I do it well and with an open heart.

I echo your last statement Gail! blessings, marlene
I would love to see your paintings I bet they are great ! Pretty please get a photo of them for us !
Yes it has turned fall like here as well the leaves are falling and some trees are changing already quite chilly today but I like it I cant take the humidity it sets off my hot flashes something fearouse ! Love the photos especially Jake cuddling with Johnny. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Johnny looks so happy (and fortunate) and so does Jake. So sweet.
STOP being your worst enemy. You ARE talented. I wouldn't say so, if it weren't true. STOP IT!
Sorry, I yelled. :)
Johnny is probably just so appreciative to have somebody who loves him and cares for him.
This is my first visit here (not sure how I've missed you)!
As soon as I saw the photo of Jake hugging Johnny, I was hooked! OMG!
Such love!
I'm adding you to my favorites!
Happy to meet you,
~K
Sounds like things are good at your house. :) I love the pony and you can tell they are bonding...and I'm thinking you need to upload some pics of your art, I would love to see some of your work Gail! :) hint hint
Good morning Gail.
I'm doing fine. Was OK by the next day.
I look at stuff like this as unsweetened lemonade. All I have to do is add the sugar to make it right.
If I can manage to laugh at situations like this then and even make other laugh......then ALL IS GOOD!
My front yard is mostly dirt now. My dog and cat come in looking like they have been through a dust storm. Although we aren't as bad off as some areas it is starting to get serious. At least a cold front is here which makes it a bit more tolerable......kt
Absolutely love those images, how adorable.;)
I miss the times when I actually longed for coolness after a hot summer. These days, living at northerly latitude, the third season is elusive and fleeing. And this year it truly rained away.
Thus I am so not ready for fall yet.;)
xoxo
Thoroughbred Huh?! You may have some ties to KY after all. :) I'm shooting for the same thing... an open heart. May we both have wonderful holidays.

Gosh I just love the photo of Boy and His Horse. It's wonderful when so much is said between two hearts with no words. Just lovely. Linda
Looks like horsey love to me..what a great match! Have a good day:)
I LOVELOVELOVE that picture of Jake and Johnny! So sweet!
Once again you've provided me with my calm of the day. Sometimes your words provide me with a visual that leaves me so relaxed.
I'm jealous of your cooler weather- it's still hot here. If we open our windows we'd have to turn the AC down to a cooler temp!
We had some fall weather and last night it was actually too cool to open both windows in the bedroom!
We picked up a truck load of hay on Saturday. We got a trailer load yesterday. The farmer posted on Craig's list, so he has a bit more and we're getting another truck this afternoon. That will give us enough for 6-7 months. It's scary - many of or normal hay sources can't get hay from their sources. The Texans are coming here to buy hay. The farmer we did get hay from has just bought some cattle from a Texas ranch. The rancher can't afford to feed them, and sold them for much less than he normally would. I hope the strange weather turns around soon. We need moisture in the worst way!
Sounds like you'll have to do some new paintings now to refill your own walls.
;)
It feels very fall like here as well. We had a low morning temp of 38 degrees on Saturday morning! My hubby is putting up the last of the third crop hay cutting today. Not sure if we will pull a fourth this year or not. Enjoy your day and I hope you get to relax a little. I worked all weekend and today I plan to kick back, relax and enjoy a visit with our company!
Oh, it must be Labor Day weekend. I always forget about that holiday. I hope you enjoy your day off. I'm glad that Jake and Johnny have each other. They make a good pair. Paint some more pictures!
Hope you are enjoying your day, Gail. :)
I love your pictures and I hope you have a very lovely day.
Two very nice photos of Jake and Johnny. I especially like the one with the ATV and the gesture of affection for the horse. That's one thing you can't give or get from a machine.
That second picture is priceless!
I would have thought you'd get some rain from Hurricane Lee.
It got down to 48 degrees last night! A welcome relief from all the heat and humidity around here!
I was hoping I'd see a picture like this of Jake and Johnny soon. So glad they are connecting. Yea for Andrew and his interception. I think of the Kenny Chesney song,Boys of Fall, when I think of high school football; love that song. Can't wait to hear more about the shop up and running and getting ready for the big sale and open house. Keep us informed.
Well it is LABOR day you know ! So i'm sure you will find something to labor at.
Blessings
Marilyn
I hear ya about the grass and hay. We're experiencing the price hikes and I've had to spend over $20 for a 3-string bale of grass hay and up to $11 for a 2 string bale. It's crazy! I'm really worried about winter coming because we only feed hay as there isn't enough grass to sustain in the paddocks.
But you're right the seasons are changing. I spent the weekend up in Santa Fe crewing an Endurance Ride and it rained the entire weekend and the temps never got above 60F. At night it got down into the 40s! Brr! We were camping and I was bundled up in 3 layers, a fleece jacket, and a rain poncho. And I was still cold!
And now with all these rains we have mosquitoes! In New Mexico! That's just nutty!
I miss summer already!
Oh my goodness! That second photo of Jake and Johnny is precious! You really should enter that one into some kind of photo contest. It makes me want to cry. It's just so simple and beautiful.

Congratulations on the art show. :) How exciting!
The photos of Johnny are wonderful. I'm glad he did well with getting his hooves trimmed.
I just LOVE the pictures of Jake and Johnny. Sounds like Johnny is going to turn out well.
You have been working so hard on the shop and getting things ready to sell. I hope it really takes off for you! Would love to see pix of the shop and your art! :)
Hope your day is great!
