Gail, those iris are stunning. I don't have any in my yard, so will have to talk to my hubby about getting some planted for me for next year.

When I was a youngster, my Mom was obsessed with Iris. We had 27 different colors in our north garden. Over the years my Dad (who was a garden jerk) saw fit to eradicate most of them. But in homage to my Mom, I've planted 7 different colors in the front flower bed. They were gorgeous this year....until the hail storm came and then there were none. Oh well, they'll come back next year. I love yours, most especially the yellow ones.....such a happy color.

We called these "flags" as well in our neck of the woods. Haven't heard anyone out here in CA use that term.
Purple/blue flags were always my favorite.

I love calling them flags. In the Little House book, Laura always called them blue flags. :) Your flowers are lovely.

The irises are beautiful! I'm looking forward to when mine start blooming--though I should get some weeds pulled around them soon!

We used to have those in our yard when I was young. Good memories to see them!
