Today We Mourn
the passing of a great man and phenomenal musician. Mr King has been one of my favorite musicians for many years.
Andrew and I went to see him in concert when Andrew was fifteen and a budding young musician himself. I even let Andrew skip school and drove to Mississippi for us to see him in concert.
I did not push Andrew in the blues directions, he traveled there himself. He plays by ear and eye, he can watch a musician play and pick up what he has seen and heard. Many have called Andrew "an old soul" so maybe he has played before.
Today we mourn, The skies cry here for BB King. I like to think this man who learned how to play with wire strings on a porch post is jamming with the best of the ones long gone.
Oh, God! We will miss you, Mr King.

truly one of a kind.
he was a true talent for sure. it is good he was an inspiration for Andrew..
very, very sad. A true legend.
A genuine loss for us. He will be missed but never, ever forgotten. You are the coolest Mom ever to do that, how wonderful and lucky for you both.
BB stole his first guitar from his pastor. He was about 6 years old, and loved when his pastor played at church. When his mother shamed him, the pastor told her to let him be.
The skies are crying everywhere for the loss of BB...except heaven, where I am sure they are rejoicing in greeting him.
BB King was an incredible musician, I loved him.
You and Andrew were very lucky to see him in concert.

Huge blues fan here and BB King was the King. He will be sorely missed for he was one of a kind. Thank goodness we still have his music.
Yes indeed R.I.P. BB King.
His music will live on ...
All the best Jan
Amen.
Fortunately you have wonderful memories of him.
Hope you all can have a blessed weekend, Gail.
Beautiful Gail . . . one of the greats!
I thought of you and your grandson when I heard this sad news of BBKING. God Bless
Indeed...he was one of the all-time greats. I've loved his music since I was a kid. Would have loved to see him perform live. May he rest in peace...
Mr. King was truly an amazing olde soul. He entertained our families for generations and his passing is truly sad - I betcha he's welcomed on his road from here to his next life. You and Andrew were so fortunate to see and hear him in Mississippi. Rest In Peace Mr. King.
A sad day indeed having to say goodbye to such a talent.
This type of talent is so hard to find. BB will be missed by many. Beautiful post!
