a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Long Time Coming...

You've watched Lizzy avoiding water like the plague.  She will go out of her way to find a crossing that only wets her toes.  In the heat of last summer she laid in an inch of water to cool off one time.
 Today after a long walk/run
she waded in belly deep like an old pro.
It wasn't an extended soak
but Lizzy is finally a semi-water dog.  Way to go, Lizzy!
After much enthusiastic rolling and some beach time
Lizzy dashed through again!

Some of you may remember when Lizzy came home with me Labeled Number Eighteen. Lizzy has grown and changed much from the young rescue that came home with me.  She is many things...the farm announcer, the snuggler, the cat companion...but never a water dog. Finally, after almost four years she has discovered the joy of water on a very warm day.

Welcome to Nirvana, Lizzy Number Eighteen.

Way to go Lizzy! I think she just has to be really hot to enjoy the water. The long walk and run helped. Lizzy is a cutie! Have a happy day and week ahead!

That is so nice, glad she has learned that water isn't a thing to fear.
Very sad that a beautiful dog is labelled number 18.

She has just been watching the other dogs have such a grand time in the water that she is giving it a whirl. She keeps getting deeper each time. Pretty soon she will be right in the mix.

Awww...that's my girl. She has to observe and contemplate. It must be in her own time, if it is to be done. She is a girl after my heart. Love that Lizzy.

This made me smile brightly! Yay for Lizzy discovering how wonderfully fun and refreshing water can be! I am jealous sitting here at my office desk, wishing I could come splash through the water with her! She is a real sweetie, and so blessed to live there on the farm with you!
